How is the Pass D? I am really asking. Because, I can see a team attacking where they see their best chance. In other words, IF I can pass on you, I will not run much....and opposite.

Again, not trying a "gotcha". Just looking for possible reasons.

Sigh....

Apparently someone missed the bold part of my original post.

All I'm saying is that in the exact same teams we both played, our rushing defense was superior pretty much across the board, sometimes by a very wide margin. Our run defense is legit.

12-0. It doesn't matter. Everyone should know this by now. Just LSU's year. This is a team of destiny and far superior in talent than anyone in the country, save bama, but still better than bama by a good margin. UGA will be lucky to put it in the endzone 1 time.

LSU - 2nd in SEC in Pass Eff.
LSU - 1st in SEC in Scoring Off.
LSU - 1st in SEC in YPCatch

Sell out to stop the run and we'll throw all over the UGA secondary. JJ is much improved. Awesome that oppponents haven't caught on yet.

LSU 38-13

I answered that above. It's not great but not bad. Rambo leads the SEC in picks. Boykin is our best corner, big physical guy and also our returner. Branden Smith is a little light in the britches but is a burner, he's prone to get beat physically though. Shawn Williams is good at safety and really come on this year, and we can move Sanders Commings between both spots. We are definitely succeptible of giving up a big play or 2 passing.

Now, I'm not saying that our defense is as good as LSU's, because it isn't. Please understand that. All I'm saying is that for those who think our defensive ranking (especially run defense, which is the strength of our whole team) is only where it is because of our schedule, well that's not quite accurate. We don't have bama or LSU's defense, but we're not as far behind as people would like to think.

And that's why we playing---to find out if these stats mean diddly squat!

I like this guy! But seriously, no we're not. We always recruit well and just had the #4 class in the country last year, but that doesn't make up for what LSU has done for 4 straight years.

Georgia is awfully talented, but we're not in that elite class of LSU or bama.

Nah, don't agree. May be the case for the second half but the 1st will be interesting.

Yards per carry would be a more accurate comparison.

Your run defense may be better than my preconceived notion - again, I've already said that I hadn't watched a bunch of Georgia this year.

But here's the problem with the stat in your original post.

In every game in which we shared a common opponent other than Auburn, we blew the team out. And y'all did not. Granted, some of your wins against our common opponents were not real "close", but some were. But again, in all but the Auburn game, y'all had to play a much "closer" game.

My point is this. Stats are not real comparabable in GAMES that are not comparable. In games where we are up on a team 3 scores, we'd turn to playing strictly base defenses, allowing a team to gain a few yards in exchange for the time it took the team to gain those yards.

Y'all were typically in more of a position to contest every yard, as the game's outcome was still in doubt.

That's why stats are for losers (not at all calling you a loser - just pointing out the difference in the situations involved).

West Virginia amassed a ton of passing yards against us. That said, during the second half, they were only within one score for, I dunno, about as long as it takes Mo Claiborne to run 95ish yards.

Again, I've only watched Georgia play once. I know this about them. They recruit well, and Mark Richt is a good coach, and from what I've seen, even a better man. Your run defense may in fact be good. But people here (me inlcuded) are not going to believe our running game will be shut down based on the fact that we've run the ball literally on every team we've playd, and those teams that we have played comprise a MUCH tougher group of teams.

Dang that's long.

In a moment of weakness, I'll admit to liking UGA - I've always been a Mark Richt fan, and I hope your young recruiting class grows up to compliment the talent you've already got. If you clowns fire Richt you're delirious.........
