Not the point. We have great backup talent at just about every position on the field. But losing a leader is hard to replace. If you don't think that Kwon is the heart and soul of the defense this year then you truly don't know football. When you have to replace that, even with a talented backup, will hurt the defense because of the leadership we will lose. Think Minter, his loss both from a production standpoint but more importantly from a leadership standpoint really hurt last year.

To me V. Alexander and Hawkins will be the difference between playing for an SEC championship and not playing for one. So I hope they come back.

That is just not true. Tre White, Jamal Adams, Ricky Jefferson all have big time experience and play at a very high level. Plug in Ed Paris, Dwayne Thomas, etc. and that unit will be very good again. This is assuming Rashard leaves school due to actually having to attend school while at LSU.

you are also assuming that Collins and mills leave....I believe at least 1 comes back, probably Collins. IF Robinson returns....you bring back Thomas, who was turning into quite a player, with adams and Jefferson at Safety.....then white, robinson, Collins, paris at CB....wow

Think about that for a minute, it's truly depressing. Think how horrible our line play was early on.

The type of turnaround our OL made during the season doesn't point to a lack of coaching to me. In fact, it's quite the opposite.

excuses for next year before the bowl game.

doing gods work.

Dude if a bomb hit the football facility and we lost half the team, you'd still want Miles fired for losing with a shortstop playing qb. So I don't really see what you can objectively add.

we will just have to agree to disagree on this. I think we will have a few leaders on this team....one that stands out imo is adams.....I think we will pick right up where we left off on D and continue to get even better. I expect a great D next year, barring any off the field type deals with key players. If Robinson gets his shite together, this D goes from very good to elite, imo.

You are correct on ol......even if we get just one back out of the two...could be huge. I'm hoping the 5 star TF can come in and play right away.....much like that thug from West Monroe did at Bama.

I think you need to put things in perspective.

Making it in the NFL is extremely difficult no matter if you are an early departure or you stay through your senior year "which puts the health issue in play about getting hurt"

Next if you do make a roster, and if you are drafted your chances are higher than if you aren't drafted, your minimum salary is $405,000.00. I don't know about you but making close to a half a million dollars for the season is more than 99% of students who graduate their first year on the job. And if you make the practice squad for the entire year you are still talking about $102,000.00

Anyway you slice it even with paying agents and taxes those are still really good numbers. So it is hard to fault those guys wanting to make money at the trade they want to make money in.

Actually, he has a valid point. Very few players play long enough in the NFL where his age is the issue. Therefore, if a player is going to play for say 6 years in the NFL (a great NFL career), all he is doing is choosing the 6 years he is going to get paid. And, with the rising salary cap, a pretty good case could be made that it's really not much of a hit if any to say for an extra year.

Add to the fact that a player who is drafted in the top 3 rounds statistically has a much higher chance of sticking in the league and staying becomes a viable option for most of these kids.

The flip side of the coin is the risk of injury.

The bottom line is that a good case could be made that any player that isn't a guaranteed top 3 round pick should stay...and that's based solely on his best interest.

I don't understand how anyone can expect any of these guys to come back

It's like y'all have completely blocked out the past 2-3 off-seasons in y'alls minds

They're gone. Probably all of them. This is the reality we live with of LSU football now.

They can't do that. It's diametrically opposite of the way Les recruits.

Ok that is your opinion, but I trust Chavis a hell of a lot more than you. If we had better DE's than Rasco and Hunter Chief would have played them. Rasco is gone obviously but having Hunter come back would be great for the simple reason more experience coming back. Hunter will get drafted he is leaves early, I will bet a bottle on that with you.

I see I rustled the bama troll's jimmies....has nothing to do with where he went to school...plenty don't choose LSU and are not thugs...plenty do...see LC and SN, and GW for other thugs....CR happens to be a thug, and since shows passed/left WM, the program is quickly turning into that.

as you know, dukkee is our "special" poster. He is actually a bama troll, and obviously, he has some emotional issues that prevent him from blending in with the real world. The arrogance from him is comical...he goes essentially 1-8 in predicting meaningful LSU games this year, and he is on here telling us how much more he knows about LSU football than us.....how we can't accept reality....lol...truly a special case.

Agree.

Grimes really pulled the line together after a shaky start. It took them a bit to get used to his style, but they played well later in the year. If we can get a couple guys to come back, this should be a solid unit next year. Hopefully La'el's draft stock rising due to his senior year will help.

Both Kwon and Hunter are undersized. At least one of hawkins and Alexander will come back. Same for Mills and collins.

True about Kwon and Hunter, however they will still get drafted mid-rounds. I think you're right about Vadal and Hawkins. I especially think Hawkins will be back because he does not have an NFL ready body. I'd bet 3 to 1 that both Jalens are gone. Collins has already been here four years, and Mills has three years of starting.

I do. You're going to get hit coming off the line. It's his responsibility to make sure he's where he's supposed to be and on his feet. He was not.
