Do you remember the TCU game? What stood out on their defense the Dline(without their best player Fields) or their secondary making plays on passes all game?

In past years, on an LSU defense, when was the last time a Dlineman led the team in tackles?

Mike Evans might go for 300 on us.

Agree 100% No pressure on Murray and not even any push. Johnson was standing straight up on most plays.

The D line has been a disappointment to this point. It did next to nothing against UGA.

Yes. As well as the LBs and DBs. Jesus, i thought the word was we signed a SICK LB class in 2012 that would dominate? Where's those guys other than Kwon besides on Special Teams??

The 2014 Recruiting Class has become the most important job the coaches have the rest of the year. If it plays out I see Johnson and Ferguson back for '14 and this as the starting and top subs on Defense to start next year:

DE - Hunter/Bower
DE - Allen/Willis
DT - Johnson/Bain
DT - Ferguson/Gilmore
OLB - Alexander/K Young
MLB - Beckwith/Garrett or
OLB - C Garrett/D Jones
CB - White/Thomas
CB - Robinson/Brown
SS - Jones/Jefferson
FS - Paris/Martin/Voorhies

Some other players will no doubt get significant snaps but I see these guys as the make or break players for next year.
Just my 2 cents. But I see a VERY young defense next year.

If only we know Anthony Jennings will be able to handle the pressure and perform I would be confident in a big year. Breaking in a 1st year QB in the SEC is usually brutal without a dominant defense.

in my opinion is the defensive line. They are not pressuring the qb or stopping the run. You can hide your db's if the d. line is putting pressure on the qb. the qb will not see a open receiver if he running for his life.

I think coach haley says it best. Anthony Johnson should be called Anthony until he gives a reason to be called freak. He certainly has not been impressive.

All the talk with anthony and ego going pro after this year is laughable. The silver lining is they should be back next year to go with the younger guys maturing.

Chilge1, I completely agree with you.

Gurley had 9 touches for 86 yards before getting hurt. If he doesnt get hurt, we lose by more than 3. I mean they put up 44points without their best player most of the game. And even when he was our, Marshall looked great. But, there was a few times where Marshall went down by someone tripping his legs. Gurley wouldnt of went down on those.

Either way, we still are in the hunt and still control our own destiny. Need to improve on both sides of the ball and we need a leader to step up on D. Would love to see UGA in the SECCG.

Great points.... I know our db's are young and lost but any kind of pressure from our front would cause the qb to rush throws. Our db's wouldn't have to cover for so long and then maybe they don't get so confused and blow coverage. This is is all hypothetical but it makes sense.

The all potent offense could't get 60yards for
a field goal to stay alive or 80 yards for a TD,with nearly 2minutes,but its everybody elses fault. Adds up to a big glorious lost

That's because they didn't play prevent like we did. I think they blitzed Zack 3 times out of 4 plays on that last drive.

Rewatch the game and see how long Murray held the ball on most plays then get back to us ( hint: 2-3 seconds, in which a pass rusher is not going to get there ).

In regards to Gurly's runs, count how many went outside, then check the alignment of the defense, then get back to us ( hint: Gurly ran outside almost exclusively, many times in a buck sweep, and all but the first play - one where Hunter was mugged when he stunted inside - we were in an under front with Kwon as the contain guy ).

As for our DTs, count how many times Freak was doubled...

It is real amateurish to blankly blame the DL. The issues are with the secondary and LBers.

It's so annoying seeing all of this "we dont have a no.1 CB, we can't cover, nothing but overrated talentless players," fricking bullshite. IT WAS BREAKDOWN'S IN COVERAGE! I can guarantee you that we were not playing a Man Under scheme on both of those TD's. It was a misunderstanding in the scheme. That means the scheme needs to be simplified. Period.
