Could the reason be because jd’s coming back? Jd tanked Boutte draft stock more than enough this season. He had 1 receiving TD last year. Do you really think his stats would improve next year with jd at qb? Smart decision to leave.

When he lights it up in the nfl. People will be on his d like they are with chase

No it’s because for 3 years Boutte constantly had different stories surrounding him. I don’t care how much of a leader he was in the locker room, it seems to me like a lot of times he was equally as much as a distraction and I don’t think it was fair to the other receivers.

Chase won a natty, the biletnikoff, caught 20 TDs for 1750 yards and gave 100% in 18 and 19.

Please don't compare Chase to Boutte.

Boutte had a rough year but I’d be more killing to completely blame JD if you know Boutte lead the team in receiving yards.

Nabors seemed to be able to get some passes.

And I like Boutte and think he’s extremely talented. But he was off this year on top of JD having issues.

Boutte had 300yds receiving in a game with max Johnson at qb. Don’t be surprised if he lights up the nfl

Boutte was suspended for the bowl game for a violation of team rules. Dude is just done with college. Had nothing to do with Jayden Daniels decision to return

Boutte tanked his own draft stock. Blaming someone else for your actions is absurd.

Oh wow what an original question. I bet no one has thought to think of this.

Boutte opted out of the LSU football team a long time ago.

When he quit going to class and let his grades slip, he was saying good-bye to LSU football. He pouted and tanked his play all year. I don't GAF what he does or doesn't do in the NFL.

Time for him to move on and take all of his egocentric drama with him.

I don't recall 3 years of "stories". He played well as a true Freshman. He was arguably the best WR in the country for the first half of his Soph season until he suffered a season ending injury. Following the game in which he was injured it was announced the coach he signed to play for wasn't going to be retained after the season.

Unless there is something else, I don't recall hearing any "stories" about him until the end of the 2021 season. And those "stories" were that he was considering a transfer. But why would that be surprising with a new coaching staff coming in? Every year there are coaching changes. And every year the players who are getting a new coach consider staying or leaving. I don't think Boutte doing that makes him a bad guy. It makes him normal.

Ultimately, he stayed with LSU. To my knowledge, he suited up every game (except for the one he missed due to the birth of his child). He didn't get a lot of targets this season (at least relative to the prior two seasons), but that wasn't his fault. The fans were convinced he was a "locker room cancer". Yet nothing on the field supported that. It was just assumed he was entering the draft after the season. Yet, (at least initially) he didn't.

Now the guy is choosing to enter the draft (for whatever reason) and skip a meaningless bowl game vs. Purdue's second string, and the narrative among the fans is "good riddens to a THREE year problem"? That's ridiculous

yep. Outside of the SECCG where he outran UGA's defense, he didn't look the same. He couldn't get separation consistently. And, on screens he lacked the burst and speed he had before.

It looked to me like he was still recovering for most of the season. My guess is that 95% of his frustrations were with his own body not doing what he was used to it doing.

Actually LSU reported that he had good grades this year. He was never fully healthy this season. Yall be way to ready to hate on these young men. He definitely made some mistakes and has some maturing to do, but damn people be so ready to just give up on people. People can grow and become better men. Just look at the honey badger

Chase had already proved what he was. He earned the right to opt out, especially with the season he opted out was the covid year where everything was all over the place and so many question marks.

Boutte is different, he's a player that had a ton of potential that just hasn't lived up to it yet. I appreciate that he chose to be a tiger, and I hope he does amazing in the NFL. But he's not gonna be a player I look back on with any noteworthy memories. Unlike Chase who has the 2019 season.
