nobody should EVER refer to ULL as Louisiana.

Agreed. Changing your schools name numerous times doesn’t give you the right to be the university of Louisiana. Very little brotherish.

Smaller school = Junior College.

Southwest Louisiana Junior College.

LSU, Tulane, Louisiana Tech, Southern and Grambling should be the only four year colleges in Louisiana.

Everything else should be a freaking Junior College.

You sir are an idiot.....

I am from Lafayette, but went to LSU and a huge LSU fan. However, ULL belongs as a 4 year university with the schools you mention above.

Total students enrolled- Undergrad/Grad.
ULL- 19,056 2023
La. Tech- 11,612 2023
Grambling- 5,058 2023
Southern- 7,404 2021
Tulane- 14,472 2021
LSU- 37,334 2022 (All time high)

My wife’s cousin told me with a straight face one time that winning the New Orleans Bowl was better than winning the CFP…..I laughed and told him how dumb he is.

Have a great uncle that lives out in Lafayette. He’s a massive ULL fan, and so is his family.

First time I went to his house when I was probably 4 years old and saw all the ULL memorabilia I was confused, as I grew up in an exclusively LSU family. I asked him what team that was and he told me. I said “why not just be an LSU fan?” And he said “oh no, we don’t like LSU”, and actually seemed bothered that I was advocating for LSU. I understand supporting your local college, but why do you have to hate LSU? Was confusing to me as a kid as it is to me now

I also like ULM and Tulane (LSU first and foremost by a mile). Don’t know why people can’t support multiple in state teams

So, in summary, when you were 4yo you were confused that *gasp* there were folks out there that 1)supported their team, and 2)did not support yours? And you are pretty much still that in that state of mind. Got it.

Anecdotally I see a lot more hate from LSU fans directed at UL fans than vice versa. Most UL fans I know are also LSU fans

Anecdotally, it’s the opposite for me. I have never known a true ULL fan that was also an LSU fan. Not one. They all DESPISED LSU.

On the other hand, I’ve known thousands of LSU fans. They are all oblivious to ULL. ULL is no different than Southeastern or ULM to most every one of them.

As a four year old who grew up in BR and lived in a house plastered with purple and gold it was just surprising to me that there was another school in LA with fan support. LSU was damn near everything to my nuclear family, so in my mind no other school really existed or mattered.

I just think it’s a bit weird to hate LSU. Jealousy perhaps? I don’t hate any in state school. I’d say I like ULL the least but there’s a huge difference between that at genuinely hating, and that’s my point.

I love ULM (spent my first year of undergrad there, it’s a long story) but I don’t hate ULL or Tech or any other in state program.. and that’s my point.

TLDR- nothing wrong with liking your local in state school but imo it’s weird to hate LSU bc of it

Ah, the ‘we really don’t care about you’ post. Hence all the passion on these threads, and you might also want to ‘splain this to team who were celebrating the way they did last night.

I promise you, the majority of LSU fans don’t care about in state schools fan base. I know many LSU fans that are fans of multiple schools. The only time I’ve seen negativity is when we’re matched up, but that’s mostly understandable for me.

On the other hand, I can without a shadow of a doubt say that diehard ULL fans are toxic to other in state schools. LSU, ULM, Tech, it doesn’t matter..
Even getting butthurt over adding another L to the name of your university.

Any time y’all have a shred of success in sports it has to come at the expense of LSU. Look at 2020 and 2021 in football, yall were good for those seasons and had a better record than us. I was happy that an in state school was doing well.

But everywhere I looked online I saw rampant toxicity from ULL fans. It’s like you can’t have any success on your own accord. It has to be at the expense of another school.

I’m sorry this upsets you. I really am. I responded to an anecdotal post with my anecdotal post. I honestly don’t know any LSU fans with a passionate hatred for ULL.

On the other hand, almost every hard core ULL fans passionately hate LSU. Anecdotally, that’s a fact.

Now was the athlete, pitcher, who just struck out your batter to shut the door on your team excited? Sure. Just like they are when they strikeout the last batter for Delgado on a midweek game. I’m glad he is. It’s baseball, he’s a pitcher.

Now, in football, does LSU storm the field when they beat ULL? lol, ummm, no. They will get mildly disturbed if ULL ever scores a TD in a game against them as it would make history. But be honest. Do you truly think LSU considers ULL a rivalry or some such, lol?

On the other hand, ULL beat LSU in football? They might set the city of Lafayette on fire. You don’t deny that, do you?

Most ULL supporters don’t like LSU because they blame LSU for taking most of the state’s higher ed funding. They believe LSU’s greed is the reason ULL is a bottom tier university. Reducing that equation, they believe ULL is a bottom tier university.

I think this quote from the great Stanley J (Skip) Bertman sums it up best:

"When LSU is in Omaha, USL is at lunch"

(He said this before they became ULL, so don't fret, ULL name-police)

It’s always fun when seeing ‘Louisiana’ used exclusively in broadcasts, etc, with a bunch of UL references thrown in by commentators, and realizing that it’s making a bunch of stupid arse pussies like you go nuts. Now you know why the rest of the country looks at people like you and shake their heads in disbelief.at how silly y’all are.

Nah, I doubt anyone around the country really cares tbh.

Stupid post...LSU fans are highly more IDIOTIC, and down right LUNATICS....People from Lafayette are the most friendly, and down to earth people you will ever find. All of the SEC knows how bad the LSU fanbase is...
