Agree with this.

Forget the side-by-side comparisons, strength of schedule, better resumes, "they had their shot," didn't win their division, will play one less game, blah blah blah.

Disagree with this. The voters have to use some objective criteria to determine how they should rank teams. Head to head is one but SOS is too if not why should a Houston team an undefeated Houston team not get a shot?

I am not saying I would not vote Bama 2 today if I had a vote but it it lunacy to suggest that voters should replace whatever criteria they believe is correct to determine who should be #2 and replace it with your because because you watched the first game and it is your impression that everyone believes Bama is 2.

How bout we just let the voters vote their according to their own values and criteria?

Look guys....let's be real here. It's obvious to me that this LSU team (if it continues to play like it has)will be LSUs best team ever. It's also obvious to me that Alabama has one of their best teams ever (probably their best defense ever). Are they the second best team in the country....YES THEY ARE...it's not even close.

As much as I don't want to play them a second time (think we'll beat them worse) because of the circumstances, they still should get their shot.

to the OP YES, penalize Bama because they did not play a tough schedule. OSU and maybe even VT could get over you if the season results are analyzed. Also 12 wins greater than 11 wins, SOS is a consideration, but not the end all be all, it is the wins and even a title of champion that carries more weight than a #3 conference finish.

o, Alabama's biggest crime is being in the SEC West? Let's just switch Alabama and OSU, conference-wise. Bama's in the Big12, OSU in the SECW. Bama is undefeated, OSU lost only to LSU. Then, does Bama deserve a shot? They're the same team as they were.

In that scenario, if Bama is undefeated, then of course, Bama should go. Just like OSU should go now if they were undefeated. But they aren't. They lost to lowly Iowa State only last weekend.

It's an accepted "Fact" that LSU is the best team in the country.

Not according to T Richardson...comments in B'ham news today, after the Auburn game..per Richardson's quote: "WE (Ala.) are the ELITE team in the conference. LSU is good, but we are gooder."...this is the guy you think should get the HEISMAN.... ..what a classless asswipe...

I don't doubt that Bama is the 2nd best team in CFB right now, but I also don't think it's very fair for one team to have to risk playing a conference title game while the other is in the BCS National Championship game already regardless of the outcome. If God forbid LSU loses that game and is dropped to #3 in the BCS Standings and misses the BCSNC Game and Alabama is in that would be a travesty for both LSU and the BCS without question.

I'm still baffled by how you can say:

quote:

a game in which they OUTGAINED LSU, missed 4 FG's, and lost in overtime would be the 2nd best team.

Bama outgained LSU between the 30's, but couldn't get any closer than the 35. Once you reached that point in the field you self destructed, and we stopped you, just like in overtime, with one dropped pass, one overthrown pass, and an LSU sack, then a missed field goal from 50 + yards out due to the stout defense.

NOTE: When LSU got the ball in OT we drove it to the 5 and mad a chip shot field goal.

THAT'S WHAT CHAMPIONS DO. THEY EXECUTE AND DOMINATE IN CRUNCH TIME.

Bama is not a Champion this year, not even in their division of the SEC. See you next year in Tiger Stadium.

If Bama gets another shot, do we go to best two out of three?

Side by side comparisons, resumes, and confrance titles are the defining criteria, in deciding "the two best teams"

And with bama beatin 3 teams with winning records, compared to oky states 7.....i say this may be relevant

But never got closer than the LSU 17 and that one time.

I don't care who plays who, but there is just something wrong if you aren't good enough to play in your conference CG, but get to play in the BCSCG. IMO

They did. Consider that game a semifinal in which the two best teams just happen to be from the same conference. Consider it the college version of San Francisco vs. Dallas in the NFCCG in the 90's.

I agree, but since Bama will not even be champs of their own division and already lost at home to their likely opponent one re-match game will not do it, provided Bama wins. This should be a best of 3 series.

And had Bama won all LSU fans in this thread would be crying for a rematch because they lost in overtime on the road.

When has LSU cried fora rematch before? LSU went into the game of the century knowing what it meant.

And if you think LSU would be extended the same support bama is getting now had LSU lost the game of the century..........you are an LSU fan we could afford to lose from the fan base.
