I hate to say this because I love Wade but look at the schools K and Self represent, BASKETBALL SCHOOLS. Basketball there goes, their entire athletic department dies and from there no more TV and gate receipt revenue, they fight the NCAA hard to protect their cash cow bc that's all they have there. We're a diverse AD because football's our cash cow but other sports are good too, we can handle basketball being set back a year or so as long as our football team continues to reel in dough. In a just world, yes, the justice would fit the crime if it comes to that but it all comes down to game theory and risk reward for the respective schools.

Where was K sloppy? All anyone ever says is speculation about Zion and then some nonsense about “being naive” or “ worshiping” K if you don’t lump him with Wade er al which is just silly deflection. It’s not a matter of thinking he’s clean it’s a matter of show some proof not speculation

if you had any brains you'd understand Wade isn't a good coach. He was good at getting some talent but didn't know how to use the talent. you're blinded by your bias. Wade is not a good coach of basketball.

Did you read the allegations against Will Wade?

Yes.

quote:

It seems like they have banks statements and text messages supporting the allegation that he bribed a girl to cover up paying a player at VCU.

True. Both the player and fiancé were not in college at the time the fiance' extorted Wade. There is no proof that the extortion occurred to keep quiet about retaining or getting said player. As far as the NOA goes and what the NCAA knows is Wade was extorted money from a former player's fiance' for a down payment on a car and Wade's wife paid.

Is this illegal? Maybe extortion is illegal. But this does not involve the NCAA and Wade and his wife are the victim here.

Is it illegal to give money to people for car down payments? No.

Is it against NCAA violations? No, if they are not associated with a college program.

Was this person associated with a college program at the time? No.

Does this involve LSU? No.

The problem with this issue for the past 5 years we have been relying on the media narrative instead of having the NOA in our hands so that we can read the media narrative against the NOA. For 5 years Pat Forde and Pete Thamel were able to drive the narrative and no one could check them.

People still buy their story. People still think the "strong arse offer" was paying Smart. It wasn't.

People still believe Wade's wife payed players from her bank account (was a former VCU player's fiance' not players).

People believe Wade paid Cisse or Reid $300K based on an Arizona assistant coaches account. No proof. Just hearsay. Ridiculous hearsay.

When you break down the NOA it can easily be defended by talented lawyers. You just have to choose to fight to get to that point.

With all that said there is one thing the NCAA did not want released early and that was an official NOA to the public. They wanted a narrative to be developed by Pat Forde and Pete Thamel to build public pressure on LSU to fire WW.

The media narrative does not equal the NOA.

It was a witch hunt. The NCAA and the media that is bought and paid for by blue blood boosters put a target on Wade's back.

Why were the allegations sent a few days prior to post season play?

And why did LSU need to act on it immediately instead of just letting the team play through post season and sorting it out once they were eliminated?

The Cisse allegation is simply absurd on its face beyond the hearsay, LSU struggled to cobble together $30K to keep Kayshon from going to Bama until Get Gordon saved the day and Hes our best football player. We’re not shelling out $300K for Cisse to be on the basketball team like it’s gum balls, that should be easily defended like the Javonte Smart one which already was. Feels like the NCAA’s doing some double jeopardy with that one and the Trendon Watford one which is absolutely unfair to Armstrong who’s known the Watfords since they were toddlers.

Right. And everyone is assuming Wade’s wife paying off the VCU player’s fiancé (who were not college players at the time) involves illegal payments to retain or get the player. How do we know it wasn’t hush money to cover up an affair by Wade’s wife? After all she paid it and Wade turned over the text messages.

Absolutely - my point is not WW was not sloppy it's that the rank hypocrisy and double standard in treatment is ridiculous.

You'll here on Duke - there's no proof. Well there really is. Everyone knows what was done, but their is neither the willingness to work to get in nor the sack to go up against what they would have to go up against by the press to force action. We've seen the press force action with much less that is out there than they have against Duke. Gutless.

And as for Kansas - the NOA is out there including damning text messages from Self, that are backed up by testimony confirming the texts are what they seem.

Yet you wouldn't know it would you. The biggest collection of press for hoops all year all huddled in one place but not a peep. Hell, Dick did a 2-minute hit piece on LSU right in the middle of the SEC title game last year - carefully planned with a time-line and comments wondering how recruits could even consider coming to LSU given all this. Think CBS is going to have him as a guest to come on and do the same to Kansas tonight?

For me this does not excuse the hypocricy - if fact for me the magnifies it.

What you are describing is a witch hunt.

Not saying the basketball team should have been sacrificed. I'm saying when you look at all the schools involved, they're was only one choice for who the sacrifice would be. It wasn't going to be KU UK Duke or UNC. They are blue bloods. Had those same teams got caught in football, we would have been the safest of the bunch. That's my point.

Because an injustice was done and the LSU admin did not fight for justice and deep down you know it and Woodward knows it.

Again, I never said this excuses anything. I'm just saying that if you're surprised it happened like this then you aren't that bright. When the list of schools involved came out, if you thought LSU was going to get the same punishment as everyone else then your intelligence should be questioned. Most of us here have the luxury of being so removed from prejudice, we forget it's a real thing. It's crazy we can see unfair treatment in sports but not anywhere else. I wish I could still be that naive to think everyone gets the same treatment. LSU got treated like the black guy in court who can't afford a lawyer so he has to take whatever plea deal he can get through his public defender that works for the same office that's trying to convict him. UNC UK Duke and KU were able to cut better deals because they have the privilege in the basketball community. We don't. We are the minorities. So we get the short end of the stick. It's it fair? Absolutely not. But I won't sit here and act like it doesn't exist when I've benefited from it most of my life.

Again you are right but the thing about this black guy is that he had the resources to fight injustice. He chose not to because half of his supporters like the old order.

K really has not had to cheat since the early 90s. By that time the Duke brand was one of the gold standards....sort of like Saban nowadays at Alabama.
