I think the defense will be fine.

What I don't think anyone anticipated is how quickly the offense is scoring. After the younger and less experienced guys get more reps and Aranda makes adjustments thing will get better. I'm not ready to write the defense off after one game.

Depth is an issue in the secondary. I know some of them are young, and some of them need to add weight.

How is this different from the old 3 and out's by the old offense?

That does seem to be the weak link. Doesn't seem the experience and talent is there as in recent years at CB.

There needs to be a presence out there. I saw Divinity on the sidelines trying to fire guys up. I just haven't seen it on the field. Maybe Delpit or Chaisson will step up.

Flott will get better as the year goes on and so will the rest of the defense. We have 3 weeks to really lock down on what we need to fix. I trust Aranda

Seems like a lot of missed tackles . I understand Texas was a good team but after watching the game again you can see the defenders not wrapping up .

Yeah it was really pathetic but i think it may of had to do with the heat involved and the 2nd half conditioning

Younger guys will mature and add depth. The dline must get pressure with four people. The tackling must also improve.

I also wonder if Aranda will get a little more aggressive if he knows the offense can bail out a mistake. In the past the defense has had to play it kind of safe, especially against those mobile/dynamic QB's, because if they were too aggressive and got burned there was a good chance the offense couldn't respond. Now though we might be in a position to play it a bit riskier.

I have to question myself here. I forgot about Hampton and Jones. Is Hampton penciled in at safety? And Jones must not be as far along as the others. Both were highly recruited.

Defense will be fine. Tx has one of the best offenses in the country.

first and foremost we’re not going to see an offense that good again until bama. regardless, i think our defense will improve as the season progresses

That's the second best offense we will see besides Alabama. They are the only team with a better QB and WR corp than Texas has. A&M shouldn't get out of hand like this game did, I don't think they have the athletes of that caliber.

I like Aranda but he needs to stop allowing 3rd and 20+ conversions and it is not just in Texas game. He has been doing this a lot even on 4th and long.

I really didn't think he played that badly. Yes he got beat on a 1 on 1 deep ball, but asking him to man up on 6'6 Johnson is a tall task for any freshman corner not named Stingley.

i may be totally off base, but the very few times we sent pressure up the gut, it resulted in sacks or incompletions.

besides the fatigue angle, seems like an easy fix.
