Cool traditions are cool.

The Yell Leaders do not fall into that category.

Looks like the line for “favors”, when they were after Jimbo.

Agreed.

Neither does the fake cadets. Not 1 single cadet at A&M has ANY military obligation at all. They can go to A&M and be member of the cadets for 4 years, graduate, take off their cadet uniform and go work anywhere they choose with never serving 1 day in any branch of the military. The truth is that in any given year 60% to 70% of the Corps of Cadets simply go to work and never spend a day in the Military at all.

They are not a Service Academy. Period.

Then she should be upset at how they make a mockery out of it.

Unless something has changed recently, that's not entirely true. If the cadet is on a military scholarship, there is a substantial military service obligation upon graduation.

don't let this board affect you. Tradition (even the ones this board doesn't like) are VERY cool.

Personally, I would never be a yell leader. Not my style.

But the traditions are one of the things that make college football great. Yes, even traditions of other schools - even our rivals.

So I support them all. Every college football fan should.

All traditions are not equivalent.

The Ags are viewed as a weird-arse cult cause they have waaaaaaay too many traditions, for the sake of being show-off that they have lots of traditions.

It impresses NO ONE who is not an Aggie, and in fact repulses almost everyone outside the Aggie Cult.

No one else is attending Fish Camp and shite.

And the YELL LEADERS are the most un-admired and puke-ish of the gaggle of traditions for the sake of traditions.

It's disgusting.

Deal with it.

Many of the corp of cadets members are ROTC. Those do have military service obligations. In fact, i believe A&M commissions more officers every year than anyone outside of the service academies. That said, I believe a majority of the corps are not ROTC, so those members do not have service obligations. I believe members of the band are required to be in the corps. My guess is most of those are not ROTC.

All cadets are required to join the ROTC for the 1st 2 years in the Corps of Cadets. After the 2 years they can OPT OUT but stay in the Corps of Cadets as Drill and Ceremony (D&C) Cadets with no military obligation all.

The point is if you can opt out and stay in then it is not obligatory. Period.
