I watched a lot of football this year and didn't see any punter make as many clutch punts, whether it was a long punt or a short punt inside of the ten, as Wing. Many of them in big games. How many of his punts were returned? So I wouldn't consider anyone who thinks he should have been a finalist a retard.

I think Wing is great. There is a reason why he is a freshman all american. But come on man. Don't hate on a kid that had a great year just because he isn't on your team. I have watched Ryan Allen and he is as advertised. Dude can punt.

agreed.
Wing is an exceptional punter but give allen his due he too is an exceptional punter.

No!!! Shitty team.
Really?!? Ahhh, spoken like a true LSU elitist!! Why don't take a look at our Shitty Team record?

You people think that just because he has hardly any punt return yards on him is due to his punts. It also helps that by the time the ball gets to the return man, our punt team is sitting there and waiting on him to catch the ball.
Congrats to Allen on winning it, stop bitching people, he's from our home state!

Listen, much respect for La Tech this year and I mean that sincerely. I'm happy that baby brother can have a solid season and win the WAC over any other team in that conference.
But c'mon...there's a large difference between La Tech and #'s 3-10 in the SEC, and there's a large gap between the top 2 teams in the SEC and the 3-10 teams this year.
Let's just keep it in reality.
back on topic, HOWBOUTDEMTIGAHS makes the winning argument. LSU's special teams all around is so solid that you can't just say Wing is responsible for his return average.
Wing is a BEAST, IMO one of the best in the nation easily. He'll be there next year if he does half as well as this year...but there's a reason La Tech takes home Ray Guy and Baylor takes home Davey O'Brien...because those people stand out from their teammates.
Wing has made games very tough on opponents, but how many times have we RELIED on him to make or break the game. Outside of Bama he's been bells-and-whistles on an already well oiled machine. We haven't needed him to save us.

Again let me just reiterate I'm not bashing Wing. I think he's probably the best punter in the nation...he's ridiculously accurate and his stats speak for themselves.
I'm just saying that award show material, he's not this year because people like TM7 and MC17 make the "game-saving" or "game-changing" plays on a weekly basis vs. just once (Bama massive boot)

Don't get ahead of yourself you won the ray guy award...your program will never be confused with LSU. Wing's a better punter he just didnt have enough punts on the year.

Wing posted on his twitter last night, it went like this:
F'ing cry baby of the South. Kid had no class when he wasn't selected a finalist.
The best punter did win. Some LSU fans are just straight up delusional. Congrats to LaTech and Ryan Allen.

Flipping the field vs. Bama was critical (73 yard punt)...You could argue that Wing won LSU the GOTC. But I'm sure Ryan Allen had a Ray Guy moment vs. Houston

Agreed. Wing's only issue is he's a freshman. Not many freshman get to be finalists let alone win it. I personally wish he was senior. Saban maybe recruiting in Australia next year.

Wing was the best punter in college football this year...
period.

Talk about a snub, the biggest snub in the history of professional football is the NFL's continued refusal to vote Ray Guy into the pro-football hall of fame. He used to hit the Superdome's ceiling.
I am not intending to diminish your feelings about Wing, who is outstanding. And we are gonna need him on Jan 9.
The gondola not the ceiling......and the gondola was lower than it is now
