Starting on beam always makes me nervous. If they can hit it and score a 49.400 on this event, it puts LSU in GREAT shape the rest of the meet. Beam typically has been the make or break event at championships.
Desiderio, Dean and Durante have to be ready to hit
Good news for LSU is beam has probably been one of LSU's strongest/most consistent events this season. The first three people are true sophomores but they have all handled the pressure extremely well to end the year.

So if I’m reading his right, only the top 2 teams advance and we’re in the same regional as the #1, #2, and #5 teams? Or is it the top 2 in each session advance to the final 4?

This is the national semifinal. Top 2 teams from each session make it for the Final Four, or whatever they'll call it for gymnastics, the following day.

Our semifinal is 2,3,6,7 from what I gather

Kind of strange with the new rules and not seeing Alabama and Florida in that list.

Four on the Floor

The new postseason format makes upsets much more likely to happen for now on. You will have to hit two days in a row to advance.
Florida counting 2 falls on beam the second competition took them out.
Alabama has been on the decline since Duckworth took over. They recruit well but the product on the floor isn't up to speed with the talent they have.

DD needs to finally win this thing or it might be time for her to ride off into retirement

UCLA(2), LSU(3), Utah(6), Michigan(7)
We have to finish 1st or 2nd among those 4 and we advance to the Final Four.

I don't know crap about this. The Sweet 16 was last weekend. Is this it? Is this weekend is the end of the season for gymnastics?
I know last year you said you got notification from the board's mods to stop doing the gymnastics preview threads. I for one would like to see one for this weekend. If not please lay it out in this thread.
Is this the finals?
How many teams are left competing?
Is Oklahoma and their easy rotations that you have mentioned involved?
Who is favored to win?
Where is it being held? Is there a home mat advantage this year?
Etc. Etc. Etc.
I appreciate you and your knowledge of the sport and will readily admit I don't follow it that closely and and have no knowledge besides knowing the names of the LSU gymnasts.

Comparable to the Elite 8 in Basketball.
Oklahoma, who is favored, is the number 1 seed, but they are on the other side of the bracket.
Meet held in Fort Worth, so close for our fans to travel.

Already bought my tickets to the finals

I like when we start on vault.
I'd be curious on the stats on the final score average based on what event we start on.

Regarding Alabama, I was reading some comments on their Facebook page. A few people want Duckworth to go. They named a few good candidates to replace her. First name mentioned was Rhonda Faehn, followed closely by Jay Clark. He was very much praised for a lot of LSU's recent success. (I could be mistaken, but I believe those posts were removed) All I can say is we better not lose Jay!

We started on beam on the second day of regionals and won, but we weren't as great on it as we usually are. I think more than I dislike starting on beam, I like finishing on bars, because we excel there. The judging is so tight in the beginning, especially the first session, so at the end the judges should be a little more comfortable handing out the better scores. at least one can hope. the NCAA gymnastics judging has been bad for a long time, but this year has been the worst I've seen, particularly from a bias standpoint.

That woman is gonna get blacklisted by the entire crazy NCAA Gym people and extremist. They forced her out at Michigan. Not sure how Alabama would respond to pressure like that... She may be out of college coaching for a while.
Jay is pretty much set to take over soon after DD retires. His first stent at Georgia did not go very well. He was handed the keys to a stacked program and they kind of went backwards and haven't been at the same level since Suzzane has left. I do think Jay has changed a lot though. He is one of the best recruiters out there.
I honestly wouldn't be shocked to see Alabama go after the Kentucky coach who has created a program out of nothing with limited resources.
