all just basic Miles-hate...they're all giddy right now and Bama's success is the icing on the cake.

More proof there are fans that are scared of Alabama.

I was confident he would do well at Alabama.
So far, he has done quite well.

but in my opinion, Saban is building a program in the SEC that could rival what Florida State did in the ACC in the 1990s.

that's going a little far. FSU lost like 2-3 ACC games that decade. he could maybe do what UF did in the 90s in the SEC, but I doubt it.

Then who does? UF? Texas?

Florida. Coming off a NC and not having lost a game as of yet and yes I did watch the Arkansas game and the refs helped them out a bit.

certain that he could not attain the level of success at Bama that he did at LSU.

How about he win a national or SEC championship before y'all start licking his balls?

just because you don't like the message, doesn't make it less true....

Make what less true? The fact that since Saban has gotten to Alabama, LSU has both a SEC and National Championship?

Or the fact that no head coach in the history of the NCAA has been able to win a national championship with 2 different teams?

There's no doubt that Alabama looks strong right now, but his teams ALWAYS drop a game to an inferior opponent. ALWAYS.

Do you people remember any year other than last year with Bama and 2003 at LSU? The man doesn't exactly shoot thunder and lightning from his arse.

What upset people about Saban was that he took a job with a SEC West team. Sure it just kind of happened that way - an SEC west team happened to be looking for a new coach at the right time but still, LSU fans loved Saban and whether its fair or not, it rubs people the wrong way when someone they greatly admire and respect becomes your "enemy" - on the football field and in recruiting. It really has nothing to do with Alabama - it just happens to be the school he went to - the same hatred would have occurred if Saban had gone to Auburn or Arkansas.

And why did it bother many LSU fans? - because we all know that Saban is a great coach and most people have always felt that LSU ended up with one that is not as good. Whether this is true or not will be determined over the next 6 weeks.

they are not on any huge rise. the rest of the sec west is down making them look better than they really are. the sec west is no where near as good as it was a couple of years ago with lsu, auburn and arkansas(mcfadden, jones) having really good team. at this point none of these schools is "really good:

alabama is a well disciplined team, with very good defense. thats all. they're very beatable.

Trust me, Saban's painted himself into a Crimson corner, he's not going anywhere. Certainly not back to the NFL. And what college gig could possibly be better than what he's got? Saban will stay at Bama as long as they'll have him. The man's set: he knows it, Tide fans know it.

many LSU fans thought Saban really "loved" them and would always cherish his time at LSU, and then felt jilted when he came back to Bama. It's really pretty pathetic...

threads like this make me nauseous. I honestly dont understand why all the Saban arse licking. When he finally wins something, come wake me up.

I swear...we have the most pussyfied, hindsighted, quick to jump, sky is falling fanbase in the country and it makes me fricking sick.

We are now 2.5 years into the Nick Saban experiment at Bama and we have seen that he can recruit to Bama, perhaps better than he recruited to LSU. We have seen that people do not care about his untrustworthiness in the past, and we have seen that he really does not pay any attention to the Bama fanbase. Furthermore, all signs indicate, much to the LSU fanbase dismay, that Saban has no intentions of leaving Bama until retirement. Obviously things are not bad in BR. We are top 10 BCS school and loaded with talent for years to come.

I never thought he'd have trouble recruiting. However, if Auburn continues to win, it will be more difficult to recruit the kinds of classes he's gotten the last two years.

Personally, I'm not "dismayed" that he's at or staying with Bama. I could care less. He's just one more great coach in a conference of great coaches.

quote:

However, I cannot help but feel that LSU is on the way down from the pinnacle and that Bama is on the way up.

Why..............? Because of last season? A season in which we were supposed to have an all-conference caliber quarterback. Losing Perriloux is the biggest reason we're in the situation we're in. But, with that being said, we're still 5-1 and #9 in the BCS. There is no "decline". We're in the midst of having to play quarterbacks who hadn't had the luxury of learning before they were thrown into action. What there DOES seem to be is a lack of perspective with many on this board.

quote:

Just three years in, most on this board seem to think that the Bama game is a sure loss (most thought that last year as well to be honest).

A sure loss................? In college football.............? In a game between two top ten teams? Yea.............most thought that we'd easily beat Florida and their freshman quarterback in Tiger Stadium back in 2003 as well. Wanna guess who LSU's coach was in that debacle? Additionally, if our quarterback doesn't throw all those INTs we beat Alabama last season.

quote:

What have we learned in the last three years? Will Saban be more successful at Bama than he was at LSU? Has the rise of the Tide with Saban pushed LSU down a rung or two, and if so, will LSU be able to overcome it?

To answer each of the three questions............

Saban will be able to recruit and field very good teams at Bama.

I doubt he'll be MORE successful. The conference actually has more great coaches now than in 2000-2004.

No. Alabama's resurgence doesn't "push LSU down a rung or two". It does, however make winning the SEC West that much more difficult.............as does Petrino's hiring at Arkansas.

Unlike many LSU fans, I've watched way too much college football over the years to believe that LSU has no chance against Alabama.....................especially considering what I've seen thus far this season.

Penn State has some appeal...the main issue with Saban is he's motivated by the turn-around. Guys like that become real bored after they've acheived that initial, big goal. I don't see him ever staying somewhere for 8-10 years.

Against LSU they ran a very generic offense w/ a concused Tebow. Ark was their trap game and they still won. They are the defending NC team and should be ranked #1 until beaten.
