Do we not remember he abandoned that team? So do you give him credit for not taking ONE team to even a championship game at his time at Tennessee, USC or Ole Miss?

Can't give credit for one thing and forget about the rest of the story!

We’re six games into year one. Giving out grades at this point is just ridiculous and stupid.

No. 1 portal class in the country and spent more than $40M in NIL!

This is one thing the brakes need to pumped on and some perspective is needed. I think too many people think portal class ranking is equivalent to recruiting class ranking. Just because it’s a top ranked portal class doesn’t mean it’s loaded with blue chip prospects. These players are in the portal for reason: not getting the playing time they think they deserve, going for a money grab, or a good player at a smaller school that thinks they can do better at a P4. They definitely need to be evaluated before an offer is made but when it comes to it they’re hole fillers and plug and play types that workout and produce a superstar now and then. The ranking and $ amount it cost to bring them in doesn’t correlate to talent level. Unfortunately it’s just a market price situation that can’t be helped.

With NIL, it's year one every year! It's called the transfer portal and it seems to be very popular thing among players! LSU just spend 40M plus and will do it again next year, as will all the other big boys!

Agree Kiffin is not the answer. We got a pussified version that won’t go for it on 4th down or take any chances. We loved him bc he did those things before we hired him and now he’s a big pussy.

How much of it did you pay? That’s right. Zero. Who the fk cares about his contract year one. Let’s see what happens down the road. He had to put together a whole fkn team.

LSU should have mopped the floor with OM and Kentucky just based on talent alone!
Sounds like you’re the homer here. Giving no credit to Kiffin for bringing in “elite” talent while also blaming him for not winning with them.

Newsflash dude: the players can sometimes frick up. It’s a big part of college athletics. I feel confident that our coaching staff is among the best in the country, but they can’t make guys tackle on the punt return or fill their gap on a simple inside zone. You can coach the absolute shite out of these guys, but they will sometimes frick up. This is still a good team, but they just aren’t quite as good as we thought.

PS - don’t forget that the 2 best players on this team aren’t playing right now. In a game that went to OT and was decided by a point. They certainly would have moved the needle to make this a win.

That's a rather severe and might I say unfair assessment of Kiffin's coaching acumen. Just let this season play out-- Kiffin and The Tigers are going to surprise some teams. We just need to get past those road game jitters.

I would argue it is more difficult with NIL, because Lane was basically tasked with piecing together an expansion franchise. He’s filling this roster full of guys he doesn’t know, and these guys have never played together, and don’t know each other, which puts our team at a disadvantage already. Even the most intelligent football pundits had no idea what we had going into the year.

Saying things like “we should be undefeated right now…. Uhh… uhhh…. It’s NIL…. It’s all Lane’s fault…” is just stupid.

Oh come on, it’s not that bad. Give the man a chance. This game was an eye opener, Kiffin is not Kelly, he will right the ship.

The only team that has had a successful 1 year championship turn around was Indiana and even that was fluky, Cignetti brought in a bunch of 5th and 6th year players that season. LSU and any other team that wants to be relevant will continue to spend big money every season, doesn’t mean they hit on every player they pick up. Also doesn’t mean that the transfer portal = automatic success.

Get a grip it was never happening year 1 especially with only 10 returning offensive players from the year prior. Your expectations were greater than the talent we had.
#1 portal class really don't mean anything other than you had 42 holes to fill and you hope the transfers work out. 4-2 is not ideal especially when you probably should be 6-0 but pump the brakes this was never a championship roster. Maybe just maybe they will play over their head and win out the rest the way our toughest games are at home and we should get healthy
