Well I haven't watched game yet because we had a game but stats must not tell the story tonight cuz Q had 5/5/5 while hickey had 5 and well less lol. Guys give it some time. He isn't going to be a stat guy. He isn't our scorer and we don't need him to be. That being said hickey is definitely better but let's see how it works. It's not like he is actually taking any minutes what so ever from hickey

Xavier was a manchild, but I digress. I'm no shooting expert, but Quarterman's stroke is pretty ugly. Once he gets comfortable and the game slows down for him though, I think he's gonna be a very good passing and defensive guard for us. He's so long and athletic and has already shown the ability and willingness to pass and get after it on D, but he needs to relax a little.

He has been. But it really doesn't matter at this point.

Lettuce be real here Q has shown better passing ability in 3 games then Xavier did in 4 years.

Yeah there have been rumblings that it was something along the lines of being late for a couple practices.

It's more about being late for non-practice type events and being disorganized, coaches feel that this doesn't show leadership qualities.
Coaches are really tough on him.
I think he might be late for practice occasionally, but when I've been at practice he's there and stays afterwards.

You can't get assists if no one scores. Hick made a lot of very nice passes to players that blew their scoring chances.

I think Tim had more good passes than his assist stats show too. Crummy 1st half for shooting

I can't stand seeing Quarterman start over Hickey. Hickey is the better player. Quarterman should improve with experience, but he's not good enough yet to deserve starting over Hickey. His time will come.

Yes he might be taking minutes but he would be taking those minutes whether he started or not. Hickey still gets the same amount of playing time just at different times. It makes it to where the team doesn't have as many lows in scoring because they always have some of their main players on floor. The strategy is used every day on every level. Nothing new and not a big deal. Hickey still gets most of the minutes

Quarterman had 24 minutes, Hickey had 21. Again, it's not relevant, because this isn't how it'll be all year. And I like getting Quarterman some minutes to get him comfortable early.

Hickey got two fouls halfway in the 1st and was benched for the rest of the half. TQ played some at SG with Hickey at PG.

Quarterman was starting to give him some game experience. His length will be needed on defense at some point this season and he will need to know how to run the offense while he is in. I think Hickey was always going to be the starter in huge games like the old spice classic and SEC play. Whoever it was that said Quarterman doesnt look talented is retarded. He looks bery good handling the ball, passing, and driving to the hoop. His problem at this point is that he isn't a very polished shooter. That's something that will hopefully come around. With that being said, the dude had more assists in this game than Hickey did so he's definitely doing some things right as a point guard. Keep in mind that he has only played 3 college basketball games and he was never considered to be an Andrew Wiggins type instant impact player

we won 81-54. who cares if Quarterman took some minutes from Hickey. In fact, I'd be pissed if he didn't in a game like this. It'll be nice in the 2nd half of SEC play when Hickey's legs are a little more fresh than if he had to play 35 minutes in games that we win by 20+. and, that doesn't even take into account the possibility that playing might actually make Quarterman better.

But even if he doesn't get better this year, the benefits of not making Hickey play 35 minutes against loser teams is more than worth it. We already know what Hickey gives us. As long as we keep winning, let him relax and prepare himself for SEC play. We're going to need everything from him to compete in the SEC this year.

Quarterman is a talented player and will be very valuable against the likes of Kentucky. As far as Hickey is concerned, he needs to live at the Free throw line. He has a horrible percentage from the free throw line for a point guard. That is his MAJOR weakness. Right now if a game was on the line and a free throw needs to be made, I would choose Quarterman over Hickey AT THIS MOMENT.

If hickey can stay out of trouble theres no reason why he cant be 1st team all-sec. He is a 3rd year starter that was thrown to the wolves and required to lead since day 1. He is battle tested and can take the talent around him to national acknowledgement.

Hickey took minutes away from himself with two quick fouls in the first half then a quick foul in the second half.

Quarterman will get there. I'm still cool with him getting minutes. Hickey cannot play 40 min/gm so lets get Q ready while we can.

Hickey has definitely had his struggles from the line (as has just about every other LSU player), but there hasn't been a more clutch player for LSU over the last 2 years than AH. Right now and going forward, if the game is on the line, there is no one who I'd rather have the ball in their hands than Hickey

Hickey is probably better off the bench providing a spark for the team. Not a true point guard.

Of course I am the guy who would move Shane over to point as well.
