Getting throttled by UCF
Let's just say for instance this happens. Does it really do anything to affect the future success of LSU football? I'm one of the biggest sticklers for "no excuses." But, this game is completely different and it really is just a meaningless exhibition for the program.

Disagree. It's huge for the younger guys getting their shot. It will set expectations for next season.

Not at all... It will just give fans something to bitch about till august...... Plus if we don't beat UCF by enough there will still be bitching... Its just the LSU fanbase.........

The post I responded to was about the result. Of course the process is important to the players and they want to win as do the fans.

Tiger Ree is very obviously a part of it. If you can't even admit that, no amount of evidence I give you would satisfy you.
Is this the mighty PR machine y’all are talking about?
The guy that trolls all you dumbfricks because you gave him a little attention once?

Unfortunately all of this is true, my friend.

“ meaningless exhibition“
I don’t want LSU to have undergone back to back 4 L seasons. I don’t think it would be good for the LSU football reputation.
Losing to Florida was bad enough, but losing to (Florida)’s little brother would be worse. imo

Some of the players may skip it because they don't feel it's worthwhile, but it's definitely not meaningless to the program or fans.
Winning guarantees a top 10 pre-season ranking for the first time since 2016.

If LSU was at full strength or even close to it, maybe. But, it's not going to affect recruiting or how LSU prepared in the off-season, so it really means little overall to the program. Unless there's some monumental coaching blunder, I don't think it affects LSU at all.

And what exactly does that do though? LSU started way outside the top 10 this year and was is in the top 4.

It's amazing. Ree posts and the ankle biters go crazy. They validate him

The OP isn't saying something negative about O.
Amazing how many are taking it that way.
What specifically are you talking about then? What is different than years past as far as public relations at LSU ?
Cause I can show you national media & local media that have said negative things about LSU.
There are fans that like the coach & dislike the coach just like any year. This isn’t exclusive to LSU. It’s every program.
So what specifically are you talking about?

Perception is everything. Getting preseason hype is never a bad thing.

we are already guaranteed that IMO...it guarantees a top 10 finish this year. Can't remember the last time that happened

They may end up in the preseason top 10 if they lose, but they are guaranteed it if they win.
I'll take the guarantee.

Also this. First top 10 finish since 2011, I believe.
ETA: This puts LSU back into the conversation of "elite", and a strong finish in 2019 as well would put a stamp on it.

Mainly because of perception. It matters a lot in recruiting.
And confidence. The younger guys need it

Of course not. IMO, we lossed the the last season and it sure doesn't seem to have affected anything. Obviously, winning is always preferred.

Doesn't seem to have hurt this season. Anyways, I've said my peace on this. The thread has already been derailed enough. Hopefully we win and all of this discussion is what ends up as meaningless.
