I like the guy.
So you're okay with the critical race theory garbage, because he tweeted some mild support for Kelly? You don't find him the least bit hypocritical for saying the only accent he cares about is purple and gold, when his CRT specifically targets skin color to judge the character of human beings? Why doesn't he use the same rules for accents as he does for skin color?

At least one poster claimed they were burning all their LSU gear the day Tate was hired. I wonder if he really did or was just a liar.

He killed it at the introductory press conference

He’s a very likable guy. The question is if/when does he go hard back to his CRT views.
President Tate’s version of CRT that he wrote about is different than progressive’s current CRT
One of his takeaways from his research was that maybe kids of different races all don’t learn the same way? That maybe true - probably is
There are genetic differences in how races do a bunch of stuff

still think his beliefs on CRT are concerning, but it is undeniable that his moves in regards to athletics are refreshing. Objectively he’s doing a good job - credit where it’s due.

Critical race theory is a very broad area of study that can’t really be nailed down to a concise set of principals or something. Thus it’s a perfect boogie man

How is teaching about the oppression of a group based on their skin color any different than teaching about the oppression of a group because they are of a different religion/blood line (Jews/Hitler)?
We like to water stuff down in regards to our own history here in America--i.e Christopher Columbus "discovering" America and having a wonderful dinner with the "Indians"-- but we have no problem talking about the atrocities committed in other areas of the world.
History is important no matter how bad it is/was and should be discussed---

You’re just jealous our President is cooler and likely has a bigger than your!

People like you are the fricking problem. The “it’s no big deal” people are the ones facilitating this madness. I’m more pissed at people like you than people who are for CRT.

Is it ok to say this now? I seriously doubt Tate would agree with you and I can guarantee you he never said anything close to this.

You just demonstrated, profoundly, that you have no idea what CRT is. It's not a history lesson on black oppression. There is plenty enough on that, anywhere you look. CRT is the theory that if you are white, you are, by default, guilty by association of all the sins of slave owners and Jim Crow era white people. It pits one color against the other. It is the very definition of that which it pretends to oppose... Racism. CRT is blatant racism.
Anyone with a pea brain knows this. And yet, you haven't a clue. I'm embarrassed by the people in this thread, for their utter ignorance of what Tate stands for. People like you are how we got this point. You allow this hatred to persist, because you're naive and ignorant enough to believe it is actually opposing racism.

You don’t have a clue what you are talking about.
It’s very clear in Ibrahim X Kendi’s book, but i’m sure you have never read it.
1. He very clearly states that the only way to solve past discrimination is with current discrimination.
2. Anything that leads to unequal outcomes is “racist”, that’s why math is racist.
3. That’s why capitalism is racist and needs to be destroyed.
It literally says this word for word in his book. I’ve read it. It’s not obscure.
You are in denial.

Why would you be worried about a black university president acknowledging that racism exists and is perpetuated? Do you think that this is merely a belief or a dangerous fiction?

Sounds like you just made up your own version of what CRT is---

Strawman
That’s not at all what CRT is. Not even close.
But keep telling yourself that’s all it is because it allows you to march along like a good sheep and ignore the insanity because he said something good about the coach.

I'm sure you can find all kinds of hoopla and crazy stuff on the internet to support your view that CRT is black ppl trying to kill white folks, but here is the official definition.
"critical race theory (CRT), intellectual and social movement and loosely organized framework of legal analysis based on the premise that race is not a natural, biologically grounded feature of physically distinct subgroups of human beings but a socially constructed (culturally invented) category that is used to oppress and exploit people of colour. Critical race theorists hold that racism is inherent in the law and legal institutions of the United States insofar as they function to create and maintain social, economic, and political inequalities between whites and nonwhites, especially African Americans. Critical race theorists are generally dedicated to applying their understanding of the institutional or structural nature of racism to the concrete (if distant) goal of eliminating all race-based and other unjust hierarchies."
Not sure how this is a bad thing to explore and get young minds thinking about. The same way we get them to think about genocide and physical war's.
