For the critical play I will go back further to the 1st game Saban coached at LSU. I can't remember the opponent, and I can't quite remember the play. But it happened in the 1st quarter. Something went wrong--a turnover, I think--and the entire effort didn't collapse like it would have the year before. LSU buckled and sagged, but then fought back and stayed in the game. It was not like that under DiNardo. At that moment I realized things would be very different now.

Nothing against JJ and JL, but if Rohan was QB now, OMG, LSU would be unstoppable! ![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/Icongeauxtigers.png)

If you're going to argue that game changed LSU football then maybe you could argue that the Booty INT the previous week was what opened the door for Rohan to play in that game

Great times! I was there and I'd have to agree with you. That win led the way to many more great wins (along with rushing the field) that brought so much more overall excitement to Tiger Stadium than had been seen in generations. We had some great wins before Saban (Dinardo's win over #1 Florida comes to mind) but none had really elevated us to a higher level of expectation.
Saban may be a douchebag but we've got a lot to thank him for. I'll always respect what he did for our program but I don't have to like the man.

I thought it was when Xavier Carter knelt on the 1 yard line

This Tennessee game in Tiger stadium showed we can be back to Dinardo times of upsetting the big boys, but still mediocre.
The SECCG win against Tennessee the next year signaled the decline of UT and the meteoric rise of LSU to being an SEC West contender every year.
The win against UGA in 03 showed we can be nationally relevant every year.

Fact. That needs to be added.
Rohan should be LSU's Assistant Athletic Director for "Manning Up"

Its amazing to see how calm Saban was during that last minute drive right before OT. He's clearly changed a lot in 10 years.

quote:Saban gets a lot of flack on here for being what 'he was' in the past. Most posters are too stupid to notice the changes that he has undergone, just like Miles and many other coaches do. They learn, adapt, and progress.

I make an appearance at the 3:28 mark.

All I remember about that game is that I had to pee like a racehorse at the end of regulation. so they block the kick and I race like a jackrabbit to the bathroom to do the deed and dang if those jerks didn't get the OT started so dang fast and we score on the first play, I remember running back to my seat and as I turn the freaking corner to come up the ramp back into the stadium all hell breaks loose and the stadium erupts.
Still makes me mad I missed that TD.
Lesson learned. while in OT, pee your pants

If I'm not mistaken, the db on that interception was Troy Twillie
