IMO, we will need to throw for more than 200 yards to pull this one out

We'll need to throw for more than 200, absolutely. At some point we're not going to have a choice but to try and stretch the field. That is when butt holes will pucker and every single one of us should be nervous about it.

And that's my argument against holding things back versus lesser opponents. It just doesn't seem like the best idea to run a play or plays for the first time in this situation in a huge game, on the road.

Everybody’s pumped because we have the better kicker, so far.
Auburn’s kicker missed two against Washington, but his girlfriend broke it off right before the game.
Kicking is all about the mental side and this kid is no slouch.
I’m happier with our kicking game than ever, but don’t assume we have the advantage there.

Offensively I would expect LSU to throw a lot of short passes To prevent the pass rush from hitting burrow. If they have success it’s short passes it will force auburn to move closer to the line opening up opportunities for shots deep.

been sayin. and if they are spread out at the line we can gouge them between tackles also maybe. or after hitting some deep or intermediate shots.....the key is to whether we can perform and execute these counter strategies.

I tend to agree with your game plan. the only thing about game plans is that they can get derailed by the opposing teams defenses. hopefully, we will be able to execute ours successfully.

Do you believe that LSU can win with 150 yards passing and 3/11 on 3rd down?

Tigersquad89 is correct, however for LSU to stop frigging around and come out with a confident useful offense, we need to put our big boy pants on, and E needs to call a great game and OL needs to block.

Lunatik, you nailed it...we cannot keep getting a buck 50 and go 20% on 3rd down conversions. We need to be more balanced...where is the 50/50 bullshite we were promised.

We need to run +/- 65 plays on about 8 drives (avg 8 plays per drive) where some drives go 6 plays and at least gives us 2-3 first downs and 3 or more drives can go 10 plays where we generate 2-3 TD's and 2 FG for 27 points. This also gives us a huge possession advantage, keeps their offense off the field and a lack of rhythm, and more importantly, our defense gets a lot of rest and they play nasty and give up only 13-17 points.

24-17 LSU

I’d rather be good. Luck runs out, skill doesn’t.

We have won a lot of games with < 200 yds passing, we cannnot be 3/11 on 3rd down though, more like 8/11

That girl would have received death threats if Auburn would have lost due to a missed field goal.

If this is true of course.

Its possible. No.

Do fans really need anything stronger than a belief in the possibility?

I, for one, do.
in 2016 we threw for 118 yards, and went 4 - 13 on third down.

Yes. We lost, but had their been another second we would have won.
More importantly we were 2-5 on field goals.
and our defense has been better up to this point as compared to 2016.

I think that we'll have a better 3rd down conversion rate, more passing yards, and zero missed field goals this time around, so it's irrelevant.

Fair enough, but we ARE going to be punting a lot. So are they. That’s what good defenses force.

I don't think I need to elaborate any further.

You beat auburn by having no turnovers, playing outstanding defense, and making your field goals.

Settling for field goals isn't going to cut it in this game.

And if we had thrown for more yards and done better on 3rd down we would have had a better shot at winning. Bottom line is that playing on the road at Auburn, we are going to need the offense to at least be average in order to win most likely.

We need to get a few good breaks while Auburn gets equally bad ones. Like in golf, it's better to be lucky than good.

Kinda like the breaks Auburn got to beat Washington? A Washington team that is going to lose to Utah this weekend, by the way.

I don't know why people are building up this Auburn team so much. They won't run the ball, and that is what Gus' offenses completely revolve around. Remember last year when they couldn't run the ball the entire 2nd half, and we made Stidham look like a high school quarterback? Well get ready, because it's gonna happen again.

Now, we might not be able to move the ball consistently on offense, so we could be looking at a low-scoring affair that comes down to the wire. Trust me, I don't think LSU is some world-beater team, but Auburn is not that good either.

We only win if auburn turns the ball over 4 times to us and we score off of those takeaways

You just described the entire board. If any of us really knew anything, we would be on staff somewhere.
