is if he outperforms Tua on November 9.

That being said I would be thrilled just to have an LSU QB make it to New York. Good luck to Joe!

And someone needs to shut down Hurts. He will have video game numbers by the end of the season.

If he beats Tua, he's got a shot.

IMO, Jalen will win it - they'll change the narrative to "career achievement" this year. All the 26-2 talk from his Bama years will play in. Poor thing deserves it.

Yeah, all Hurts is missing is the extra gear and accessories people put on their create-a-player on NCAA '14.

I'd like to see Burrow have a long and successful NFL career, so I'm actively rooting against him winning the Heisman.

It's going to be tua or burrow. Jalen can't win it

The media loves Jalen, but it is going to be hard for him to win it after the last two came from the same school.

If OU is undefeated, and Hurts game(s) against TX mirrors these other games, it’s his. Media loves a feel good story and the guy has been nothing but class.

If they lose one of them, it will go to Tua or Joe if one team is undefeated.

I agree. I think there will be a significant want to not give it to an OU QB again. If anybody else is close stat-wise and/or OU slips up and loses a game or 2, I don’t think Hurts wins.

I think the logical argument against Jalen is no matter how well he performs he's at OU because he couldn't beat out Tua for the starting job

Alabama has at worst a top 3 coaching staff. If they didn't think Jalen was better than Tua then who are we to say that Jalen is better? They have an overwhelming amount of data to support their position.

I agree that Hurts is in the driver's seat for now, which raises the question.

Is it possible to over-recruit at QB? I know it sounds pretty silly to say but think about it. In the current age of the transfer portal, highly ranked QB's are much more likely to bolt than to stay. The fact that Hurts stayed an extra year at Bama before bolting is the exception, and most kids would say he made a mistake by staying given his performance so far.

It takes a lot of resources and time to recruit a top QB. Plus, your program reputation does take a hit when a highly ranked recruit transfers and has a lot of success at another program. It significantly tilts the recruiting talent from that class for both programs.

I'm not saying you don't go after and sign the best players that you can get. I'm just reflecting that sometimes recruiting success can backfire, particularly at QB. I guess it's like a lot of things though. Having 5* quarterbacks transferring out of your program because they can't break the lineup is a good problem for any program to have.

why is everyone forgetting about Trevor Lawrence? True, his numbers as of yet aren't obscene, but Clemson will roll through the season and Lawrence will have a big year.

This.... Based off of what we have seen so far out of both side's defenses, it will probably be a shoot out.... which will bode will for him (Burrow). So both qbs should get their stats.... but a W.... a W after 8 or however many losses to the gumps in a row, that will fricking catapult him to greatness.

No doubt, but Hurts has the whole overcoming obstacles story line in his favor. Too much of a feel good story if the numbers are anywhere close.

Unfortunately logical arguments require logical voters. The same voters who vote a quarterback 9 years out of every 10 and refuse to acknowledge that a defensive player can be the best player in college football

Hurts wasn't eligible to play anywhere else last year...his options were: (a) transfer prior to the 2018 season and sit out the 2018 season at new school and be eligible to play in 2019, or (b) be back up at Alabama in 2018, have the potential to play some, graduate, and then be eligible to play at new school in 2019.

Either way, he wasn't going to take snaps for another school until this season. When a player is one year away from having enough hours to graduate (and then take advantage of the graduate transfer rules), staying an extra year is the reasonable thing to do.

Not to mention he got tons of play time with Tua sitting the second half of most of the games
