And one of those NCs we played each other, so there was a chance for us to be tied at four each.

Time to start changing the national narrative of who are the Bluebloods. because LSU is only behind Bama in the last twenty years. and only Florida shares three in the last 25.

USC is #4 on the latest “bluebloods” list, what is that doing for them?

I think the biggest praise about LSU's program and how it is built for success is that we've won three titles in 20 years and by three different head coaches.

No, I don’t get it. I don’t care what bloggers and talking heads consider bluebloods.

ETA: these are the same people that said Orgeron wasn’t even a top 40 Power Five coach.

I mean, there was no evidence that he was before this season.

Call sour grapes if you want but we won the conference each time we won a natty. Bama can't say that.

And if I'm not mistaken they are the only team to have been given a mulligan.

None of that should ever happen in CFB. Ever.

The thought of this no longer paralyzes me with anger...I'm free! Ed Orgeron has liberated my soul.

Yep, we are consistently a damn good football program. Now, I wish baseball and basketball would come on already and follow suit. There's no excuses at LSU for baseball and basketball, just like football. We have too big of a fan base, too many resources, too good of a brand to recruit with nationally, a stellar history in baseball and good one in basketball, our facilities are nice (top notch in some aspects in baseball, basketball will make major renovations to pmac very soon) and being renovated and added to damn near every offseason. we pay our coaches well and our staff well, and if they don't have an awesome abundance of talented players, then that's their own damn fault for either misevaluating the players they signed or not developing them once they got into their program. There's zero excuses for not having a championship conceding program in football basketball and baseball every season. Geaux Fightin' Tigers

What if LSU loses to Auburn on a bad referee call, finishes 11-1 and ranked #1, and Auburn loses 3 non-conference games. Still don’t think the #1 rated LSU Tigers should make the playoffs?

No.

Let me splain it.

The goal (very important point) is not to pick the "4 best" teams two weeks before season end.

The goal is to have the one team at season end who has best demonstrated their superiority to the most number of other teams.

In '11:
We demonstrated we were superior to the Pac (beat their champ Oregon). Bama can't say that.
We beat the Big East champ (WVU). Bama can't say that.
We won the SEC. Bama can't say that.

What we couldn't claim was superiority to the B1G and Big-12. Although now enters subjectivity, we should have played one or the other, not replay a team we had already beaten and who did not win their conference.

So again, (I think) Bama is the only school to get a mulligan and the only school to get into the playoffs without winning their conference.

That should never happen in CFB. Never.

ETA1: as others have noted, tOSU made the playoffs without winning the B1G in '16.

ETA2: UF got a mulligan in '96 after losing to FSU.

So I stand corrected.

Bama did it twice (2011 and 2017), but it also happened with Ohio State in 2016. Lost their division to Penn State, didn't play in the Big 10 championship game, got into the playoff anyway.
