The Official Pump the Brakes Thread

I have enjoyed the hot streak that Paul's boys are currently riding as much as anyone and see that there has been improvement in some areas of play that were deficient earlier in the season. But this current "hot" streak was built on beating four teams that either are really bad (Alabama) or have been heading in the wrong direction late in the season (USC, Miss St.) or that we just caught at a bad time (Auburn). I would love to think that our approach at the plate has magically gotten better (Papierski's might have) & our bullpen is rock solid but I still don't think we can produce runs against really good pitching (Faedo-FLA, Hill-aTm, Janczak-TCU, etc) that we might see in Super Regional and will see in Omaha. While there is no one that wants to see another Natty painted on The Intimidator more than me, I'm not convinced that we have that ability. Still afraid that we go back to popping up when RISP against good pitching.

So I see you read the review post thread of all the negative post about this team during the season and I assume you were one of the main ones dogging this team. and now that they have won the west title and possibly sec title you feel the need to try and justify why this team still isn't any good to make you feel better about all those shite post.. Gotcha

exactly. just be a fan and enjoy the hot streak and hope it continues. Are we going to win the CWS...probably not only one team gets to but we gave ourselves a chance at least

You don't accidentally or coincidentally win 20 games in the SEC. You may get lucky in a couple games, but to win this many and vie for a league championship, there needs to be talent and you need to play well. We've done that. We have a top notch defensive team. And our bats are coming around. Our weekend starting pitching has been pretty good outside of a couple outings. The surprise of that group is Walker. Hes been fantastic in that Sunday role the second half of the season.

Typical case of the objective fan getting bashed for stating his opinion while the rose colored glasses fans say this team is going to win it all. My how things change in 4 weeks around here.

I don't think too many people are saying that this looks like a National Championship team. I think most are just excited and optimistic given that the team has finally started to look like a Super Regional type team.
I think we'd have to take ANOTHER large step forward from where we are to become a real championship contender.

You do realize you just named three of the best pitchers in the country. Every team will struggle to produce runs against them is they are in form.
