re: The Offense Scheme Is The Issue

We can’t spread out 5 wide.. our front 5 can’t pass block like that. Unfortunately, we have to keep TE and RBs in to help block. It limits the scheme and the routes that can be run when you have to do this… it’s simply a sign of having a young and inexperienced line. Like yesterday, if we can’t run and grind clock.. we are going to struggle

Preach. Roll the damn quarterback out if you don’t want a fricking sacks a game.

This is the issue. I could see Kelly’s frustration with that.

We don’t keep a TE in to block on passing plays. Taylor is always running a route. He only run blocks

I loved not only the up-tempo aspect of tenn’s O but also their formations. Reminded me of how Brady would find mismatches. Ball was out in just a couple seconds
exactly. that is the first thing i thought of when watching their offense. then i thought about our dinosaur oc and his archaic offense. smh

not if you are getting the ball out quickly. quick throws nullifies pash rush.

Guess bama changed their offense last night and ran an outdated shite scheme too eh?

It’s called you get a transfer QB and you can’t just trade for another QB so you gotta try an make it work and obviously he is our best option unfortunately. They are trying to get him to do simple stuff and he can’t, at this point you prolly need to give Nuss a chance if we start off slow next game. Notice we have Walker Howard notice we are actively trying to recruit similar QBs for the next recruiting class in 2024. Like I said for rest of this year you just gonna have to keep it simple because no matter how many time Kelly yells at Daniels he isn’t going to throw the ball down field. Yes Kelly hired the OC but no one can predict that you would have no QB on your roster that can run a basic fricking offense, but in year one you just trying to put a serviceable team on the field until you can get the players you want to run the system you want. You think Kelly would choose Daniels if he had the choice to have anybody he wanted? Nobody was knocking down our door to come here I hate to tell you. This is just about having a decent team to build off of unfortunately that’s reality

Daniel’s signals the play on almost every down. When it’s a run he doesn’t even look left or right at the receivers. This was true on the vast majority of the runs yesterday. He also stares at the receiver he’s going to throw to before the snap.

daniels still refuses to throw the down field shot chunk plays that are called. the times when he does have time, he just wont take the risk and starts to take off.
going forward, the film is out on daniels: blitz like crazy and play contain for when he takes off. he barely had any yards with his feet and got sacked for 5 sacks.
this will continue until he decides to actually throw the ball downfield like it's called. I just don't think he can process info quickly and get the ball out to the play makers all over the field.

It’s not pro style I’ve running zone read that is what denbrock runs
Posted on 10/10/22 at 7:58 am to burasjr123
He runs zone read the majority of the time there are videos of the breath down of the system he runs it is not pro style he doesn’t run a lot of rpo either

I think it’s 50% QB, 30% OLine, 20% Scheme.
You just cannot understate how a mediocre QB can hamstring an entire offense. I think the scheme isn’t doing us favors, but it’s no. 3 on the list of things to blame. A competent QB and solid OL and this scheme works a lot better than it is currently.
Don’t believe me? See Bama against Aggy this weekend.

You are 1000% correct. This is as bad as execution of using your personnel to max their potential as I have ever seen. Square peg in round hole because our OC only knows one way to play football. I wish we had two running plays. I kinda think the other teams know where our one running play goes by now.

Based on what you just said, it's scheme. We don't have a QB who can do the things you mentioned. Therefore, the scheme has to be adjusted to fit who we have. Can't just keep hammering a square peg into a round hole.
I'm not gonna act like I know how to scheme around our weaknesses, nor do I need to know. A good OC, however, should be able to cover up the weaknesses we have at QB and o-line better than Denbrock has.
I'm not one of those guys calling for coaches to be fired. Denbrock has had success with the right players in place. Maybe Kelly is willing to be patient until we have that and is willing to take some lumps to get the system fully implemented for when the players are in place.
I like Kelly to rebuild this program and trust him to do so, but it is frustrating right now.

5 passing yards in a half is actually les miles bad.
Posted on 10/10/22 at 9:29 am to lsukingcfb1
No scheme survives a qb that refuses to throw the ball past 5 yards. This notion of denbrock calling these long developing pass plays is horseshite. Does he call some plays meant to gain chunk yardage? Of course but no more than any other oc. Ive seen a few all 22 films. Daniels holding onto the ball for so long has frick all to do with play calling on 90% of the plays called. Danieks just refuses to throq the ball unless his target is wide arse open(which rarely happens in the sec).
Denbrock's scheme might shite but the maybe reserve judgement on it until we have a qb that doesnt struggle on play calls meant to get a qb in rythym.

daniels is afraid to throw the ball in tight windows. the game is too fast for him and he can't anticipate the breaks. denbrock is calling plays and daniels doesn't want to throw it. if the QB isn't going to try and execute the designed play, idk how you keep starting him.
