In general the PAC-12 beats up on themselves far more than the SEC does. None of the bottom 8 teams in the SEC beat any of the top 6 teams. In the PAC-12 you have Washington beating Stanford, beating Oregon, beating Washington. Cal inexplicably beating UCLA. USC beating Arizona State, who beats Arizona, who beats USC. Washington State beating Washington.
Of course, you can say that this is because the PAC-12 is just bad, but that's a pretty simplistic approach. Oregon and Stanford have proven to be good teams on the national level and the conference as a whole has some good OOC wins over teams like Nebraska and Okie State.
The SEC has a sharp division between top and bottom lately, which inflates records. Not that the top SEC teams aren't good, because they are, but going 10-2 when you play 8 or 9 badly over-matched teams doesn't prove it.

He's over-stating his case a little, but no one is going to fondly reminisce about that year we went 10-2 and played in the Peach Bowl, or whatever, especially if a team from our division wins it all.

Lacour and Roger - I recognize you two as usually reasonable posters so I'l direct these to you: what teams would you take over the Tigers lock, stock and barrel? From the coaches to the players to the water boy? Only thing that would be kept the uniforms and the stadium.
