Yes and the sad fact is that many TAF supporters might as well be politicians. The TAF is full of fair-weathered buffoons (not all, just some) and why was there no huge interest in starting something like this in say, 1989? 1992? We're building and building on to a winner...and I love that and am fine with it. Let's see what the TAf looks like when we finally cycle down and have a 4-8 season.

cajuntiger2222 - you sound like an old lady. You don't belong in the stadium if you complain about people standing up and cheering.

All the rule is saying is dont be a jackass and stand with everyone else is sitting. It's common sense.
What if everyone is sitting at a time when we should be standing?

The rule is indefensibly bullshite. There is no such thing possible as a "fair" policy against standing. Either standing is an acceptable practice or it is not. If there is even on second of a game that is deemed "acceptable" for standing, then the entire game must be. Because the only difference between the lameasses' "big play" moments and every other down in the game is the fact that they don't give a shite about the game enough to consider every play important.

If I'm watching LSU and our defense is trying to stop the other team, it is a big play, period. And if I want to stand up and shout as loud as I can (which physiology dictates cannot be done in a sitting position), then anyone forcing me to sit is selfishly and rudely trampling on my opportunity as a ticketed fan simply for their own ego and whimsy.

Well there goes LSU's claim. It's a shame because no way can Tiger Stadium now be considered the hardest place to play in CFB. Autzen fans stand all game screaming...no breaks and no yelling "just for big plays" like Tiger stadium. Have fun sitting on your hands.

GO DUCKS!

AND THAT'S ALL i'M saying.Don't stand for no reason just to be in the way.Example:to just stand to talk to a long lost brother.Stand and cheer for the Tigers sure. But to stand the the whole game,we're not Aggies.Be considerate is all.We all paid a premium price to watch the game, and all should enjoy it.It's not a right,it's a privelege to watch the Tigers play.

There's no need to stand the entire game.
There's no "need" to be at the game at all. Standing enables louder yelling as well as stomping and other noise-generating activities. Whenever LSU is on defense, no fan should be punished for trying to make as much noise as possible. Forcing people to sit physically reduces the amount of noise that can be generated in the stadium. That's an absolutely stupid and indefensible position. No person's selfish, petty insistance that the entire world cater to their whims should trump the crowd benefit to the team. And that is exactly what is happening here. People who would rather make rules to force other people to do what they want them to do rather than make any effort to accomodate themselves (like standing up themselves or -- god forbid -- actually risk a partially obstructed view of a play they don't even consider important enough to stand up to see). These people would rather have someone use force to disrupt the legitimate, customary and routine enjoyment of tens of thousands of people rather than lift a finger or suffer even the slightest discomfort. It's assinine, lazy, selfish, petty, arrogant and insulting. They are flat out insisting that they are far better and more important than everyone else, so whatever inconveniences them in even the slightest way must be changed no matter how much it disrupts, distracts or otherwise interferes with the enjoyment of the "little people" who don't matter.

And, for the record, if it is allowed to happen in the rest of the stadium, it absolutely WILL happen in the student section. It is only a matter of time. If I had a million dollars, I would leverage it to borrow more millions and bet it all on that fact. If we do not stop this bullshite now, it will never be stopped and Tiger Stadium will inevitably be eroded into pure myth.

Call it alarmism if you like, but anyone who has been going to Tiger Stadium can tell you just how laughably insane the idea of anyone in Tiger Stadium being forced to sit would have sounded just twenty years ago.

Physics. What if I'm 3'6" tall and can't see over you even when you are sitting? Do I have the right to force you to lie down on your seat if you're in front of me?

If you're not interested enough in a play to stand up in order to see it, then your interest in the play cannot possibly be sufficient to punish other fans and the program by limiting their ability to cheer on their team. If you care so little about a play that you won't stand up to watch it, then it is pretty petty of you to try and dictate to others how they can and cannot enjoy it.

All I have to say is 1979 LSU vs USC....

they let in more people than could sit in most sections.

Our row in U-19 had 5 extar people on it that night and all the rows in U-19 had a few extars.

So we stood all the game, including half time and 20 mins after the game to cheer for the team.

What makes Tiger stadium stand above the rest? It is the noise we make. So explain the science behind that it is louder if you stand. This shite about you are more roundly and a better Tiger fan does not compute. Noise is the key. I like the “new” rule. I have seen over the many years I have been going to LSU games is that there are a few individuals who stand, not given any consideration to the fans behind them, that make others stand just to see the game. The ones behind the ones that are standing are considerate enough not to bother them and ask them to set down and just stand so they can watch the game. Then the behind them have to stand etc. You get my point. I am not saying sit during the entire game. I think if the game is exciting enough we should stand most of the game, not the entire game. It is physically impossible for some fans the stand the entire game. Don’t tell me to stay home and watch the game. What kind of Tiger fan are you to say to another Tiger fan to stay home? Use common sense when it come to standing or sitting. Of course common sense goes out the window if the “Tiger fan” is drunk and only thinks of themselves. Know you limits on drinking. Yes I do drink before the game.

I don't dislike the "rule" but I don't like where this is going. This seems like a slippery slope. This is kind of like the smoking in restaurants - I don't like that personal freedoms are being trampled on.

It is a rule for the purpose of CYA.
While I do not agree with the rule if strictly enforced, we have all been there where a few rude people stand in front of you WHEN NOTHING OF ANY IMPORTANCE is happening.
1)Common sense is the best rule, but it is not that common.
2)Both the people standing and the people seating bought and paid for tickets...they BOTH have rights.
Having said that, if you want to view the entire game quietly...STAY HOME.
It is not logical to come to the #1 stadium and expect a subdued atmosphere.
A "balance" is good. It's kinda like "driving with the traffic"..not faster, not slower.
There will be some games where STANDING the whole game is the norm. Also, different seating sections will likely carry different levels of "rowdiness". The rule will likely be enforced IN THOSE SECTIONS..
i.e. High Money-Older People sections
Hey..here is a thought...let's enforce it in the visitors' section -lol

Well thank goodness we still have the right to be spontaneous, so kind of them.

Bottom line, when my defense is on the field I am standing and yelling to I lose my voice; if that is unacceptable to you feel free to leave a message at 1-800-KISS-arse.

It is a f*!king football game people... Jesus.. the pussification of America continues.....
