I don't agree with this. They just had one better "ugly" win than any of our "ugly" wins.

well, we are still ranked ahead of them, and beat them .. and it was their win over bama, coupled with their late season run that pushed them over us .. they were just more impressive than we were down the stretch .. but .. it we beat them by, say, 17 or more points head to head on the road and take care of business down the stretch ourselves and win more impressively .. i just think that overcomes the heisman hype and the bama win, IMO ..

i just hate how it's championships every single year or complete failure.

I do find this to be the single most toxic belief in all of sports. It's not "settling for mediocrity" or some such nonsense to be proud of a program that has produced a top 10 finish in 7 of the past 10 years... that is what success looks like. To think there is only one successful program each season and second place is just First Loser is just a horrible belief structure. It robs one of joy.

This was a good year. It wasn't a great year, but considering we lost seven starters and our three best players (HB7, Faulk, Blue) for the year, I find a 10-2 season to be a pretty remarkable accomplishment. Last year was great, and I have no reason to think next year won't be. The way this team responded to losing so much personnel was a testament to the quality of the program. Why would I be mad about this year? I ask that we contend for titles. We contended. Sometimes, you lose. Asking for perfection is completely unreasonable, and just a way to be miserable.

No it doesnt look at the past couple years who has gotten the most attention? Has it been ground and pound teams with stifling defenses that win by a little but never leave doubt that they will win or is it the flashy all or nothing spread offenses with weak defenses that will win a lot but always drop games. Who has gotten more attention Oregon, Boise, and Oklahoma or LSU?

Even after we rocked Oregons world last year they were still talking about their offense during more than our amazing season.

So, no link? I'm guessing this post is your glaring admission you were talking out of your arse when you accused me of saying something I didn't.

Warner is strident dunce. Like so many others, he glibly and expediently reduces very complex issues of hope and allegiance to a series of one dimensional caricatures. For example, can anyone actually point me to the kyphotic LSU fan who glories in Tiger losses? In all my years of holding season tickets, traveling to away games, and attending bowls, I've never seen one. Slouching out of the Superdome last year, or Tiger Stadium on 11/3, or Oxford in 2009, I certainly encountered LSU fans who were disgruntled, angry, dissatisfied with this or that aspect of the coaching - but I never saw one smiling, one laughing, one reveling. To a man and woman, they were devastated and depressed.

Moreover, Warner perpetuates the very damaging myth that LSU is somehow destined to revert to mediocrity if and when Miles departs; that LSU's baseline is, in fact, rank ordinariness. Both tiresome and inaccurate.

Also, I think it's telling that the more championships Saban wins, the more determined some LSU fans are to loudly denounce him with tired old sobriquets like "midget." It smacks of desperation and bitterness. Better to just admit that Saban has the better of it right now and hope that LSU reverses the situation and ascends to dominance. That's at least rational.

Finally, did Warner really compare rankled LSU fans to fascist traitors in a bloody civil war that consumed about half a million lives?

There is a nuanced dialogue to be had about LSU football, but Warner certainly isn't the one to have it.

It will be interesting to see who actually reads your thoughtful and mature analysis, and who decides it has too many hard words, prepositional phrases and commas to be taken seriously.

FWIW, I agree with you.

what does all of that really have to do with picking team A over team B in a bowl game with conference alliances ? what conference gets more attention ? the SEC or the Big 12 .. i would say the SEC .. home of ground and pound .. not the Big 12 .. home of the weekly 58-53 basketball score ..

My point is that you have been coming unraveled about the decline of LSU football, and predicting every level of doom,a little more shrilly, for years. This week, we are being surpassed by Texas A&M, next year it will be whatever program scares you. Different team, same fear.

But look, you are entitled to set you hair on fire and squeal about The End Times of LSU Football any time you want to. I support the right of all NegaTigers to be whiny panty-satins.

I miss the good ole days when they were saying we would never beat Florida again, never beat bama again, never beat Florida and bama in the same year, never win the West again, and never win the SEC again. they are pros at moving goalposts

Link to where I said LSU is declining? Link to me even saying Miles is a poor coach?

You obviously have me confused with someone else or you're delusional.

I'm sick of seeing LSU fans talk about him. I'm sick of seeing threads about him on this board. I don't like him, i don't like bama, i don't like him because he's the coach of bama. I was the same way about Auburn when Tuberdouche was there. sue me

Another point combating the negativity is that players take it personally. I am friends with alot of them I get to hang out with Sam, Freak, JC, Odell, Jarvis, and Mett an odd amount for some reason, and it gets to them.

You might think you are just anti Miles and not the team but they see themselves as Miles' boys and alot of them see him as a father figure and any criticism of him by extension is a criticism of themselves. Even when they play great but Miles' gets all this criticism they feel like they failed and wished they would have played better so he wouldnt have been blamed.

I think you missed their point.

Their point is your judgement is so clouded by sunshine you rarely have any coherent objective analysis. So many want to see you actually lay down an objective criticism every once in a while like a normal thinking rational human being.

In other words, they are make fun of you and you don't realize it.

How is that "declining"? Why can't A&M simply being rising while LSU stays pat?

Logic is useful.

He is saying you are jumping to conclusions one good season in a sea of mediocrity is called an outlier. Its no reason to think a team is rising or falling until it becomes a trend.

actually i do. i just rarely post it on here because i know players read this board. that's why i didn't post for 4 days after 1/9.

Honestly...90% of my "sunshine pumping" is just an attempt to somehow even out the negative bullshite thats posted on here. 5% is true "sunshine pumping". 5% is to just piss off the rantards.
