Wtf game did you watch?
Bullpen only allowed 3 runs. I thought Bain did wonderful.
Our ace gave up the majority of the runs.

I believe only two of those runs were earned. I don't know if the throw away by Pap was considered earn run or not. Luckily this team is full of 18-22 year olds that are more grown up than all the whiners and quitters that were in the game thread last night.

Outside of two innings vs UNO the bullpen has been very good. And two of those guys Kiel and Reynolds have pitched well since that game. Hess or Walker whichever doesn't end up winning the Sunday job will be in the bullpen. Peterson has been a pleasant surprise. Newman is Newman.

Romero is NOT a good catcher. He's not even average much of the time. Pap had a bad game last night along with some others on our team, but Pap is our best option at catcher this year.

It's funny every season when football fans try to follow baseball. The rant is, well, the rant.

Patience is not a virtue for fanatics, we live in the moment...that's just the way it is.

I think we still have a CWS team, but we'll have to wait to see if that's true. And that won't always be easy.

Catching Lange is no joke. When he spins that CB it bites the dirt and actually bounces back in the opposite direction of the break of the pitch.

This is what makes blocking those "long hop" dirt curve balls so tough. The only way to get good at doing this is repitition blocking that pitch from that pitcher.

Since we can't have Lange spinning 50 or 60 curveballs at game speed during the week between starts it's nearly impossible to practice.

I'm not laying blame on Gibbs or the catchers. I'm just saying that Lange's CB is freak of nature material at the college level. Blocking it isn't just something you pick up.

Think about Tim Wakefield and his knuckleball. One of the greatest catchers in the last 20 years couldn't catch it. His "personal catcher" still struggled with it at times.

That's what your seeing here with the battery when Lange is on the mound.

Let's remember that this shite isn't easy.

his curveball wasn't curving much last night. TCU matches up with Lange better than other teams because they are the best at milking the count and rarely bite at bad pitches. Lange just couldn't do what he needed to do last night to combat that strength. he couldn't locate his pitch. and the ump was using a small strike zone also.

Did the ump call both halves of the inning?

You had a credible thread going until that BS

"Duplantis/garbage"? After starting out 0 - 12, he was batting .294 going into last nite's game. Last I heard, Romero was still having shoulder problems, restricting his throwing. The starting catcher is batting well over .300 & had one bad game. All the experts say he's one of the best defensive catchers in the game. Pretty sure they know a whole lot more than ranters.

I agree with what you're saying. But much of Pap's poor play occurred after Lange was out of the game.

As the OP notes, it's a long season. Lange was bad - way too many walks. Pap had a bad game in the field. Antoine, Kramer, Pap, and Breaux didn't do much at the plate. I think Duplantis and KRob were like 1 for 9 AB.

Just one game...no need to panic. This weekend will give players and coach's a better idea of where they need to improve. I think LSU's preseason sched has been pretty weak some years under PM. This tourney is great!

Lange and Pap had really bad nights.

It's possible for an ump to be equally shitty in calls for both teams but have it hurt one team worse than the other. A big reason that TCU is No. 1 despite having a bunch of guys with bad batting averages is because they are really good at taking walks and moving baserunners. An shitty ump with a tiny strike-zone is an advantage for TCU because they are likely to get more walks (and runs from those walks) than the other team. If there had been a shitty ump with a huge strike zone it would have probably been better for LSU, because Lange would typically get enough K's to more than offset the additional strikes against LSU's batters.

It's perfectly "Acceptable" to the "Lump Program Worshippers"

"That's Baseball" is their BS War Chant.

Mediocrity acceptors gonna accept that mediocrity. (In all LSU Sports, not just baseball)

Low standards for LSU, BR and Louisiana are fine.

Duplantis looks like a little girl at the plate. He's a really good athlete can't understand the weak stance and swing. Looks to chop at the ball kind of like over to top golf swing?
