the only way LSU is going back to night games again is if they are unranked and sucking because no national network is going to want to pick them up.
yea...the SEC night games are full of Ole Miss, Vandy, State, Kentucky.....

CBS's nationally exposed games brings million dollars of revenue for the school paid directly to the university, and millions of dollars of PR for the school. quit being idiots because you want the tradition of getting drunk all day. new traditions start all the time. this one is LSU is LSU is #1 and people want to see them.

or cbs could move it back an hour-hour and a half?
frick, meet somewhere in the middle.

But making a petition with inflammatory speech, contentious language, against a corporation that's funding your school, promoting your school in a positive way, and basically giving you something thousands of other colleges are begging for?
agree, its how I look at it too.
Obviously most of us would rather drink all day, watch all the other games, and have the build up to a night game.... but a petition is simply idiotic.

SEC is in the drivers seat, they are the big dog now, FIVE straight BCS National Champs. We have something that EVERYONE WANTS, not just CBS. If CBS won't give us what we want someone else will.

yes. do you see that it essentially pits LSU VERSUS CBS. there's pictures and the like putting LSU against CBS.

Give me Night Games or give me death.

let's play the blame game:
tennessee sucks so cbs won't pick up bama/tenn. maybe if they had a better coach they wouldn't suck. maybe if saban wouldn't have hired dooley he wouldn't have the "pedigree" he has and wouldn't have the tennessee job. Basically, this is all saban's fault.

we are in a exclusive contract with CBS. So should we petition the SEC to leave the conference?

CBS will choose the game that they think will be the most watched out of the games to choose from.
i'd love for every game to be a night game with CBS/ABC broadcasting it.
every one of them!
but that's not reality. and so here we are, stuck with 2:30.
And the point of the petition, even though unlikely to cause any change, is to try and have something done about it.

abc/espn obviously.
fox is getting into the college football regular season heavy.
hell even nbc might want a shot if they could get in with the most prestigious conference

this is all up for renegotiation, which is the ONLY reason im on the other side of this debate.

what does it matter if they pay to park at 11AM or at 4PM? You think less people are showing up for Florida or Auburn at 2:30 than would show at 7?
Nope. I'm saying they are more likely to come to a game at night and if they come, they pay to park. If they don't, they don't. And that they are on campus longer for a night game....spending more money ....whether it's overpriced T-shirts or sugar water....

are LSU fans really that dumb?
here's some quotes from the fb page:
quote:
I would gladly just listen to every game I didn't go to on the radio if that's what it meant to keep our tradition alive.

we've been robbed of our tailgating
quote:
Outside forces are stealing our Nights away....Tiger Nation it is time to take a Stand....The rest of the Country can see us in the National Championship Game!
quote:
It's hard to understand how or why LSU can't say no. Is the television money more important than tradition? Does LSU not have enough money to tell CBS to cover the Vandy vs Ole Miss game? How many recruits came to LSU to play on Saturday NIGHT? I don't know how the contract with CBS is written but sooner than later it is going to have a negative effect on LSU Football.
These are supposed LSU fans. They are dumb.
Case in point:

apparently i have a better knowledge of the situation than you, since you would be in favor of taking significantly less money to have night games.
my point was simply that someone at lsu could and should have gone to bat to preserve at least one guaranteed.
I don't think LSU has much of a say in the matter. I think they realize that their leverage is being part of the SEC and that if it's good for the SEC it's good for LSU. I never said, I'd take "significantly less money" I said, I'd take less money to be able to preserve tradition and to retain the home field advantage LSU typically enjoys playing at night. But I guess you people that think it's all about squeezing every cent out of it is the way to go. Maybe you and Elleshoe can start a Facebook page to encourage selling the naming rights to Tiger Stadium while you're at it?

All I see it doing is expressing a number of fan's opinion on CBS' decision. Until Joe Alleva, Mike Martin, and Les Miles sign the thing, it's just LSU fans being their miserable selves.
