Stop and think about it. Don't you think that if CBS knew they could get better ratings showing SEC football in prime time that they would do that. Show the afternoon game, a prime time game, and give ESPN whatever's left over.
The contracts that the SEC has with CBS & ESPN would be significantly different than what they currently are IMO.

When we lost to Ole Miss in '97 (it was an 11:30 am kickoff) I went back to our tailgate after the game and tried my damnedest to personally float the keg. It was my birthday and I was super pissed at Ole Miss for being such a buzzkill just one week after the epic win over Florida.

I agree with the OP that the LSU vs. CBS petition is very douchey. Best LSU team I can ever remember (to this point in the season) and people want to bitch because CBS has the want to televise us a lot because (wait for it...) we're so popular right now we bumped Alabama/Tennessee?
People sure do find stupid things to bitch about.

FWIW usually half of our SEC home basketball games and 1/3 of our home SEC baseball games are at night

I can tell you that I have a friend that was an athlete at LSU when I was there that is thinking about giving up his season tickets that he pays $3,500 for because he doesn't like the idea of going to the National L Club for mimosas and Bloody Marys before the Kentucky game....and not seeing a single night SEC game this year. I'm sure that he is not alone in that thought. I'm pretty sure that having 90,000 people on campus paying to park and buying merchandise all day long is better for the school than it is when when they head for the gates at 2 PM.

Being on a major network still means something believe it or not
The same amount of people have access to a 7:00 game on ABC as do a 2:30 game on CBS.
The Ark/Bama game a few weeks ago ON CBS AT 2:30 earned a 2.6 rating.
The West Virginia/LSU game on the same night ON ABC AT 7:00 earned a 4.0 rating.
For those of you that are trying to say that we would automatically have more people watching a game that is at 2:30,
Two SEC schools in contention for the SEC West and the MNC playing at 2:30 had LESS people watching than a night game with only one MNC contender. LINK

what does it matter if they pay to park at 11AM or at 4PM? You think less people are showing up for Florida or Auburn at 2:30 than would show at 7?

I think LSU should atleast make a pitch to the SEC and CBS when the TV contract is reconstructed next year. Pitch it on this level, look your making ever effort to keep Alabama-Tennessee & Alabama-Auburn intact as rivalries. Why not throw us a bone. The media not just LSU and its fans make a big deal out of Saturday Nights in Death Valley. They play up our tradition of night games. Why not have it written into the contract that LSU one bigtime SEC night game at home? I really don't think its too much to ask for. I doubt the SEC would go for it because we are not Alabama but its worth a shot.
