Tradition is a bullshite word to mean "what we used to do."

You must be pretty young if you believe that to be true or very cynical. Tradition means a whole lot more than that. If you're cynical you'll probably never learn that lesson, if you're young, hopefully you still have time to learn it.

You do realize that if we had gotten the 7:00 ESPN/ABC game, we'd still be on national television? And that ESPN tends to talk more about the schools/games they're televising that week instead of inadvertently promoting another network's game?

I think you underestimate how many people don't have cable

Being on a major network still means something believe it or not

this is idiotic. no one is going to give up money. also, teams that play at 2:30 don't get more money than vandy. It's what makes us the SEC and not the big12. We aren't going to get less money for playing at night. Will we get less exposure, marginally yes. Marginally.

no, what I'm saying is, if CBS said we won't pick LSU up for 3 of their 4 SEC games if they take 50% of the money we will agree. If Vandy was worth two fricks they would get some 2:30 games too. But they aren't so they don't.

Its a valid argument. CBS paid a great price for the rights to show the best SEC games at 2:30 so they should be allowed to take who they want tradition be damned.

CBS should have the opportunity to flex two-three night games a year. Each year the road to Atlanta comes down to 2-3 games anyway. Their direct competitor shows primetime games weekly so why cannot CBS.

these people do not count, literally. if you dont have enough money to have access to espn you dont have disposable income that advertisers are after.

so your argument is to just take it. None of the things you mentioned take away from older traditions. Halloween night, the earthquake, 97 uf, beating bama in 01. Traditions do start and fade away... at shitty programs that don't have roots. We have roots.

"Three thousand years of beautiful tradition, from Moses to Sandy Koufax... You're goddamn right I'm living in the fricking past! "

the tradition lies in the love of our team Coon.
you need to realize that.

they tore down yankee stadium last year. You think our "tradition" is better than theirs?
frickING. DEAL. WITH. IT.

there are other options besides 2:30 cbs games

NOT FOR CBS. Its not like the SEC is sitting there like "frick it, lets put LSU on CBS again this week." CBS pays a shite load of money for first dibs and they deserve to take who they want.

Would you guys be ok if CBS guaranteed us that 3 of our 4 SEC games would be at night in exchange for only taking 50% of the money we take?

I'd be OK with making contractual concessions in exchange for allowing the team hosting the game to schedule it at the time of their choosing.

there were options on the table when the sec office was negotiating this tv contract. those options were clearly not represented in the veracity some lsu fans would have enjoyed from this administration.

then shite would become a shite show and not worth the money CBS/ESPN are paying. They need structure and guarantees to what will be on their network to justify paying each school 20+ million a year(after its broken down between the schools and the conference office)

if tradition stands in the way of progress, then it's exactly what i said it is.

slavery was a tradition too.
all advancements in the history of the world has to do with saying goodbye to tradition.

i'm old enough to know what these words mean, and how and why people use them.

the people bitching are the same ones who leave at half time to go drink more at their tailgate

or better yet, not go to the games at all and just drink all day.

i'd like to see the ratings difference between a 2:30 game and a 7:00 game. i find it hard to believe theres a huge difference.

i believe in both educating them and shaming them. maybe they'll think before expressing such a ridiculously shallow perspective again.
