i'd like to see the ratings difference between a 2:30 game and a 7:00 game. i find it hard to believe theres a huge difference.

I think that CBS and ESPN need to negotiate to where CBS may be allowed a little bit more at 7:00. But in exchange for getting the first pick of games every week, they waive the right to a night game except once a year.

then shite would become a shite show and not worth the money CBS/ESPN are paying. They need structure and guarantees to what will be on their network to justify paying each school 20+ million a year.

Hence....the concessions. And I'm pretty sure CBS is paying the SEC $55 million a year (Not $20 million)....that's about $4.6 million per school. ESPN is paying the same and broadcasting multiple night games weekly.

OT FOR CBS. Its not like the SEC is sitting there like "frick it, lets put LSU on CBS again this week." CBS pays a shite load of money for first dibs and they deserve to take who they want.

back in the 90's CBS was the Florida network. I swore Sean McDonough, CBS play by play at the time, had a house in Gainesville from 94-99

If we get paid the same cut of money regardless if we play during the day or at night, why wouldn't you want to play at night?

To say people don't watch college football at night is silly.

I agree with this. But CBS has the right to the first pick of games among SEC games and in exchange for that right, they don't air a game at night to compete with the games ESPN shows at night.

agreements should have more flexibility in them for night games. Not saying b/c I am a LSU fan, but I would like to watch more SEC primetime games on the network.

You're missing the point of why fans are upset. All they want is ONE, that's just ONE good conf night game a year. This is the first time in 76 years without a SEC night game in Tiger Stadium. Don't think that's too much to ask.

i think that maybe the people paying millions of dollars for TV programming, should do exactly what the frick they want to do with their TV channel.

And that maybe, we should be grateful that there's any demand to see LSU at all.

there are 2 prime time SEC games every week on ESPN FWIW... but as long as CBS gets the first pick of SEC games they won't be on that network

Wrong. I want ALL SEC games at night. I think SEC day games at home should be the exception to the rule - not the rule.

i agree with this. i'm not saying we shouldn't play 2:30 games. Just one night game.

this year just happened to be the perfect shite-storm for us to not have an night sec game. two of our crappy games are away (OM and State), arky is always at 130, we had crappy uk and needed to play an 1130. That leaves us with aub and uf. Well clearly uf was gonna be cbs. CBS chose uf/bama at 7 so 2:30 there for us. Then there was aub. It was pretty much a toss-up between us and bama/tenn and we got the short end of the tradition stick.

I want 15 million less for LSU's pocket or a 7-5 record Surely that will get us on all night games

since there is a demand to watch lsu, lsu should be in a better bargaining position.
someone at lsu should have done a better job at protecting at least a single home conference night game. i dont see how that would have been that hard, except nobody cared enough or had the foresight to see it coming.

I know, but primetime network games still get the better ratings unless I am just totally wrong on the ratings.

LSU is awesome right now. CBS wants to show awesome teams. CBS' time slot is 2:30. LSU will be on CBS at 2:30 many times.

people would bitch if it was any other elite team, and complain about all the coverage & praise they get

My brother played for LSU for four years and started for two.

His games were televised a total of three times (including bowl games).

Today's fans are spoiled rotten. Can you imagine the tortured screaming that you would hear if one of LSU's games were not televised?

i believe in both educating them and shaming them. maybe they'll think before expressing such a ridiculously shallow perspective again.

Your not going to shame them. Your wasting your time. It makes as much sense as if I was to try to reason with the ppl camping out on wall street. The are bitching about corporate and government power and greed. But yet these are the same ppl that put Obama in office. Do you think anyone can reason with these ppl? Hell no, the best thing to do is ignore them and they will go away cause all they truely want is attention.
