I like night games as well, but I don't see the day games as a middle finger to tradition. Ideally, yes, I would like to see more night games. But if day games are a by-product of the type of season we are currently having, I'm okay with the sacrifice.

With all of the money LSU gets from CBS, the FULL BAND should go to any game they want.

tell that to the academic side of the university as well as the tennis, soccer, swimming, track, volleyball, etc...

this was one guy's bullshite rumor dude. I HIGHLY doubt that no members are going. Come on.

+1

And even if true, I don't mind anyway. There wouldn't be more than 100 there anyway, and fewer band seats=more LSU fan tickets.

it amazes me the pots calling the kettles black on this board. Like anyone from Louisiana has room to call anyone dumb. You could cast enough individuals in BR for about 500,000 Dumb and Dumber movies.

well texas a&m isn't traditionally in the SEC. The SEC doesn't traditionally play a championship game. The SEC champion doesn't traditionally get selected to play in one of five bowls.

Traditions change.
fricking deal with it.

the new tradition is LSU is fricking awesome. And will be #1 and play at 230 pm a lot.

but this response makes you look like an idiot. you're an LSU fan, right? and you don't have any want for a night SEC game? it's TRADITION. It's what we do. We have songs written about it. Dan Borne spouts off about it every game (and mid game if he has to). It's one one this years tickets. Face it karma, it's TRADITION.

Yes. Ratings Link Both college football games that night dominated the ratings but the CBS broadcast easily topped the ABC game, which by the way, was Nebraska's first Big10 game and should have brought big ratings. Alabama/Florida easily topped that game.

Everyone would like more night games but its not going to happen and a petition isn't going to change it. There is one sure fire way to make sure we get more night games. Do yall really want that?

But LSU fans aren't known for being the brightest. Its a definite positive that they want us on at that time.

It's got nothing to do with smart. It's tradition and we're known for that tradition. I've never had anyone say to me "man what's it like in TS for a day game?"

The point is that it's part of LSU. Like I said in a different thread, let's just change our colors to something that translates better on TV? There are good teams on, on Sat night too.

we are #1. Our TV partner wants us in there "prime" slot. They compensate us handsomely for it. Would you rather be 9-3 every year and get all 7:00 games?

Are you?

What difference does it make that the check comes from the SEC? The check from CBS still comes, does it not?

Holy dumbass!!! It doesn't make a difference!! It doesn't make a difference if it comes from CBS or ESPN who ALSO paid for rights to broadcast SEC games. It doesn't even make a difference if LSU games are even broadcast. The contract was executed and the networks pay the CONFERENCE for the rights....even if the SEC evolves into the shittiest conference in the nation overnight. They also pay for the right to set the time of the game. What fricking part of this do you not understand?

there are a lot more traditions that are created daily that no one rails against.

Like singing the alma mater after wins.
like louisiana saturday night being played at games. (bc that didn't start til this decade.)
Like 'Neck.

Traditions start, end and fade away. Like LSU Ark on the day after thanksgiving.

shut the frick up and roll with it. LSU getting millions of dollars in PR is worth far more than a game being moved 5 hours.

LSU is awesome right now. CBS wants to show awesome teams. CBS' time slot is 2:30. LSU will be on CBS at 2:30 many times.

Clearly if the choice is between not being on TV and being on at 2:30, I choose TV. But to make it sound like night games are where we send vandy to play ole miss is foolish. Think about all the AWESOME night games we've played. The problem this year is that we didn't have any sec home games scheduled the same day a better match-up was scheduled. That's what really crapped on us.

The only reasonable argument I could see for wanting night games is if you truly believe we have a better competitive advantage in those games

I'll take the exclusive time slot and more money to the university all other things equal
