I know there is dirt at the pitcher's mound but not having dirt in the infield around the bags and at home plate is just not baseball. I prefer that there be no artificial turf but that's not the trend now. But no dirt to slide or dig into when stealing or batting? That is an abomination! What happened to baseball?

Yeah I know, I still consider the playing surface grass though. It bothered me when they first installed it but I don't really notice it anymore. Doesn't seem like a common thing to do. I guess they had a hard time keeping the grass alive in those areas.

Agree on all of this but when it comes down to the extra 2 hours a day you get because you don’t have to work on the field, turf is a God send

Obviously, you haven’t watched baseball before 1999 or so. Texas’ field is almost no different than the AstroTurf fields of the 1970s, ‘80s and ‘90s in MLB. Only difference is Texas has FieldTurf instead of the old-fashioned AstroTurf.
