Yeah, Tennessee got one put in this offseason. It was one of the "demands" Vitello had.
I means fewer practice days missed due to inclement weather. For a northern-ish school, that's huge.

Having a all artificial turf outdoor baseball field in the south is just freaking lazy if you ask me. I can understand football bc they tear up the field much more bc of the style of play plus playing football during a rain event will completely ruin the field.

I mean I get it, I just don't like it...particularly how the ball skips more than bounces when it gets a little wet (its hell at 1B) and how there is no true "warning track for outfielders. You don't notice the color change when running full speed looking up like you would normally notice going from grass to dirt.

Sorry, but this is ridiculous. Their stadium(s) are bad. This is true of every major sport at Vandy. Their football stadium is okay - for a high school. Their basketball arena is goofy as hell, and so is their baseball stadium. Their fans are waaaayyyy classier than ours, though.

It must be cost effective because almost all of the D1 baseball teams in Louisiana have fully turf or turf infields. (ULL, Tulane, Southeastern, Nichols, McNeese, La Tech, Northwestern State)
