I'm in the same boat as you I hated the hire but wait and judge him once the season is over.

Example:
We beat BAMA and win out get into the playoffs = Outstanding/Incredible

We lose to BAMA but win out including Sugar Bowl win = Outstanding

We lose to BAMA then lose to either TAMU or bowl game then = Good season

We Lose to BAMA then lose Both TAMU and bowl game =
Same as usual.

I agree completely and have been in the same boat. Even with a loss to Bama, this has been a great season by any measure.

If he lands a great recruiting class and can retain Aranda, I think LSU has a legit shot at winning the SEC next year and for the foreseeable future.

Pretty miraculous really.

Anyone who didn't think Ensminger would work after seeing what he did in the interim role taking over for Cameron was fooling themselves.

He beat up on horrible defense and laid two eggs against the good defenses we played...so it wasn't far fetched to think it wouldn't work.

And I don't think you can say it HAS worked yet. The offense has been more multiple, but not more productive this year

Coach O has done a masterful job.

I, too, hated the lazy hire by Alleva, but O has more than earned the respect he is due.

He is what LSU needed.....

Is it outstanding, or had the bar been lowered that much?

In 2015 we were undefeated headed into this Bama game.

Now I'm getting ready to hear a bunch of nonsense about how it just "feels" different this year.

Yeah, that's because you lowered your expectations for him and he's wildly exceeded them. But this type of season has been done before, and recently.

Difference is you never lowered those expectations from the previous guy.

That was my assumption. But part of me was worried something had happened to you irl that was preventing you from coming around.

I guess the days of taking unchecked shots at Miles are now over.

He wasnt developing his own offense during the interim season. He was running an already established playbook.
He was calling the plays, and how you call plays even if they are the same ones from previous OC matter. See 600+ total yds vs A&M as evidence. When did any game Cam called produce those kind of numbers? A&M isn't the only example either. The fact things went up with the same offense instead of going down supports my claim. I stand firm in my assessment.

He's done a very good job this season, so far. It's just incomplete.

I think the admins got tired of me using the "request for reinstatement" post to ask about questions like.....

I think we best UGA, what say you?
Who do we start in place of White?

I probably posted on that thing 200 times in the last months about regular lsu football discussions. I used it as my in game thread during UGA.

Expectations haven't been lowered. The Tigers haven't been the same team the last few years under Les than they were in the heyday. And anyone can see things were getting worse overall year to year. So the fact that O has them in the position they are currently on his first full year when not many believed it would happen is incredible. This can change obviously.

Never said it didnt matter. Calling plays is easier than building an offense. Something he hadnt done successfully in 2 decades.

The 2015 USC game.
The 2015 texas tech game.

They went up because he was a good play caller and we played 3 teams with triple digit run defenses.

I have to agree. I'm completely and happily surprised at how well he's managed to do this year. I still think he could have done better at OC but, otherwise, it's been outstanding

It is a good job. But the last guy did a good job too. We're not seeing anything that we haven't seen previously.

O has previously only been held to the standard of his own putrid record.

Now he's going to be held to the standard of those that have occupied his position at LSU. If he's truly outstanding relative to his peers, do something outstanding for this position, beat a team that we haven't beat since 2011.
