Why cant I be serious? Are you telling me that LSU issues a statment, and then an 2 hours later they are saying th egame is postponed, with no significant movement from the Storm?
Sorry Im pissed, but I checked after 6 PM and we had the all clear, and then I get home from work and the game is supposedly postponed and Im supposed to fly out at 8 Am from JFK.

The experts have been wrong since this storm developed, and will continue to be wrong. This storm hasn't even attempted a northern turn towards the gulf. It's about 700 miles south of where they thought this storm was gonna be 2 days ago, and even then the game would have been over well before the storm came within land.
As of 10pm tonight, it's still drifting south while moving westward. If it continues to float around below Jamaica for the next 12 hours, this thing won't make a landfall on the Gulf Coast till Wednesday at the earliest.

What about LSU's chances of playing USC in the Rose Bowl? Is WAFB still confirming this?

You can when 5 of 6 models have your city being within 60 miles of the landfall of a potential Cat4 hurricane and your 3 years removed from the worst natural disaster in US history.
evac is starting and we don't even know where the thing is going to hit. how much money and time is going to be wasted?

DOES THIS WAFB REPORT HAVE SOME KIND OF LEGS? Or is this some stupid fricking rumor?

that's what we're worried about, with all the gays and abortions in New Orleans, not to mention the gambling and drinking, why wouldn't GOD send it directly here to wipe us out?? I mean this is a regular Sodom and Gomorrah here...

ESPN is doing this to ruin our season.

and lost! by not having the game the state loses tons of rev. and then spends excess for something that, as of right now is completely unnecessary...

quote:it's called fearmongering and it's working. gas stations in jackson and hattiesburg are out of gas. bread and water are disappearing. people are watching the weather channel's sponsers which is exactly what they want. pointing a hurricane towards louisiana makes money right now. marketing 101.

How much money is generated in NOLA in a week that will be lost forever?

it doesn't matter, as long as we're politically ok...

I would think that worse case scenario would be a moved up game time, like noon.
Jindal will be in Lafayette to get his hair done 48 hours prior to landfall, and I'm pretty sure he hasn't scheduled his appt. yet.

If they are worried about contraflow starting at 6 then why don't they just move the game up to 11

Bring the game to the Superdome!

its a tropical storm not even in the gulf. come on man i understad the importance of taking precautions, but its just too soon for all of this. the storm is still heading west at 7 mph. i live half a mile from the beach in long beach ms. and trust me if i see this thing take a turn i will be prepared but its just too soon. thats all im saying.
if the game needs to be postponed or whatever to protect lives im 100% behind that, but right now its just too premature
