And yet your thread curiously began with a take down of Dale Brown. Fire away at the NCAA and Vitale, but leave Dale Brown out of it. If anything, Dale Brown was somewhat of a lone voice arguing against the NCAA inconsistencies. I don't see how anyone who closely followed LSU basketball in to 80's, as you claim to have done, can have an axe to grind with Dale Brown.

This makes no sense. Even if they were bitter I can’t think of a reason to undermine the program.
Wade was caught by an FBI wire tap that was investigating a larger scheme. That is the source. Why make this shite up about Brown when Wade’s own words are on tape?

I didn't accuse Will Wade of anything. I said "if" Wade and LSU get hammered by the NCAA, it will be his fault. His fault for being stupid enough to discuss his "strong arse offer" over the phone and put LSU in the crosshairs of the NCAA.

It’s really odd. Anyone with a brain knows basketball recruiting is dirtier than anything. The reason Vitale and many are so pissed at Wade isn’t because he pays players. They all do. Will was just brazen and stupid enough to get caught on tape saying it. That’s what pisses off other coaches and basketball lifers. Everybody wants to eat the sausage, but they don’t want to see how it’s made.

My issue with Brown is he was always attacking the NCAA...."those Gestapo bastards"... but he was just as crooked as anybody else out there. If he had just kept his mouth closed, an impossibility for him, his two-faceness would have gone unnoticed. He kept challenging the NCAA & they got the last laugh, as always. He was responsible for the birth of LSU's greatness & was also responsible for burying it as well. OP's point re Vitale is that Vitale wants to bury Wade but ignores his buddies, Brown being one of them, There is a former LSU baseball coach who has always called Brown the most vindictive coach he's ever known.

I was banned from Twitter for going after vitale and saying his boys were all cheaters. I def agree with the op about the bullshite witch hunt from vitale when all his boys are dirty as frick, one running prostitutes.

Isn't that amazing? For me that undermines the integrity of sports much more than paying under the table and there's no disputing this was done by Roy and the UNC basketball program, yet this is dismissed and rarely spoken of.
Dick never called for UNC to fire Roy immediately. If that's not hypocrisy....I don't know what is.

Anybody who has really followed Dale his whole career knows this to be true.
Dale is a complicated person. He is capable of the most selfless acts of kindness that will never be made public, but he can also be as petty vindictive as anyone - remember the traffic stop incident when he was coach here?
There is no doubt that the relationship between he and WW is not good - he used to be at every game and now just now and then. What are the reasons for that - I have no idea.
But if it is because he is appalled at WW's recruiting practices....and I don't know that to be the reason...that would be the height of hypocrisy.
