In order for it to be goaltending the refs have to determine that the ball had a chance to score, right? The ball was clearly on its way toward the free-throw line

the whole fricking goal is shaking

I thought it shook a little bit, but didn't realize it was that bad.

Correct. It was falling out and over the rim.

Even if it was shaking, as tweet points out, the ball has to be “on the rim” , or as the rule reads within the imaginary cylinder that exists above the rim

. I originally thought they missed the basket interference on us, but Kentucky guy definitely hits the rim and shakes the goal

To me, the rule reads as though it would have been goaltending if the ball was touching the rim.

quote:

2. Touches the ball while any part of it is within the cylinder that has the ring as its lower base;

Since the ring sets the lowest part of the cylinder, it would always basket interference...so why word it that way unless it makes a difference if the ball has bounced off the rim?

He is very wrong. The UK player disrupted the shot by causing the goal to vibrate. It was 2 pts at that moment. UK can claim they should have had a possession with .8 seconds left as their best response. There is no reason to call interference or goaltending on LSU.

It’s defining the cylinder. The cylinder boundaries are the ring going upwards.

You’re right though, it’s poorly written.

And that changes the fact that the goal was clearly shaking how?

It’s clear as day from the side court view.

UK went over the back the possession before that should have had LSU at the line for two. It’s easy to play this game.

Lol if you think the rim bends up. That pic is clearly deceptive because of the angle

That only applies for defensive interference.

And the foul on Taylor to give them their 6th was an abysmal call that never gets called

I think before tweeting out to the multitudes about the final shot and acting like “Joe Expert,” I’d learn the difference between goaltending and basket interference.
