Actually, it is a PERFECT comparison

No. The PERFECT comparison would only exist if our forces in Iraq weren't making an honest effort to accomplish their mission and were getting hammered as a result. In that event, getting them the hell out of there would be the right course of action. In any event, the original post was only intended to make the point, admittedly somewhat obliquely, that the issue wasn't the fans. It was the team.

No, it's a perfect comparison, alright. Before we went, and after the going got tough in Iraq, the NEGAMERICANS wanted to tuck tail and run. On Saturday, when the going got tough, the NEGATIGERS tucked tail and ran. In Irag, our brave troops adjusted strategy and are now winning. On Saturday, our Royal Tiger army adjusted strategy and WON! PERFECT COMPARISON!!

Here's a theory: the boo-birds left and our team came back and won.

The problem about all this that bothers me most is "Why did our football team wait till the 4th Quarter to show up?" I don't want to rag on them, hopefully this was a wake up call for the rest of this season.

Here's a theory: you are an idiot.

quote:

The fans that left early Saturday are the real, devoted fans that care about the football program. The team was mailing it in. No one can honestly debate that.

Not only can that be debated the final score proves that the team was indeed NOT mailing it in.

So instead of excoriating the fans who left, let's give them a big round of applause for letting the team know what they expect: an honest effort.

How about we give them a big frick YOU instead?

Here's a theory: The fans that left early Saturday are the real, devoted fans that care about the football program. The team was mailing it in. No one can honestly debate that. And as a result they were getting hammered by what, in the end, proved to be a decidedly inferior opponent. And they didn't appear to care. For the entire first half. There was no sign that players on either side of the ball were reacting to the embarrassment. What's a fan to do? Cheer loudly, and thus reinforce bad behavior? Doesn't seem reasonable. Boo? As many here have observed, that's not appropriate for amateur athletes. But by getting up and walkng out, the fans sent a message loud and clear that they, at least, weren't going to put up with the nonsense. I suggest that this did as much to wake up the team as anything that the coaches or the so-called leaders on the team did. The fans who stayed, well, good for them, they got to see a fun 4th quarter. But I suggest that perhaps they had no more impact on the game in the second half than they did in the first.
So instead of excoriating the fans who left, let's give them a big round of applause for letting the team know what they expect: an honest effort. The message was received and, with a little bit of luck and a lot of effort, the humiliating defeat was avoided
This is the best most cogent and almost defendable reason for leaving the game that I've seen. The other ones blaming the weather, having other plans etc. are the worst excuses and totally unacceptable. This one almost makes sense in a twisted sort of way. I could see leaving out of anger because the play on the field certainly didn't deserve any reinforcement. You could be right in that this was better than booing. It shook the players and may have made them realize how pitiful and embarrasing their performance was.

He was complaining that the team didn't show up until the 4th quarter. What damn difference does it make??? The bottom line is THEY DID SHOW UP before the fat lady sang. They won the freaking game.

That might not be the case if they keep waiting till the late 2nd half to show up for a game.

Dumb post.

And, by the way, I watched the game on pay-per-view. The first half was the worst I have ever seen an lsu team play, EVER. I am including the curly hallman days and the late Dinardo days.

They could not do ANYTHING on offense or defense. I just was amazed this was a National Championship Team.

My point is: I dont fault the people that left, the first half was horribly played. The people who stayed, were drunk, bored, or just enjoying the cirlces they were in. They certainly did not stay to see "quality" football played by LSU.

The Second half looked more like LSU. Big school depth, usually beats small school spirit.
