It's embarrassing that LSU still has an on-field bullpen among other obsolete things.

Something “similar” that I would like at Alex Box:

A building in an Italian style (terracotta roof tiles etc.to match the rest of campus) on each side of the batters eye in center would be cool. Enclosed parking on the bottom floor with two stories above it would be handy.

A large balcony on the second floor:

And a patio up top:

5 bedrooms with sleeping for 10-12, with a capacity of 50 for game day would fetch top dollar imho.

Rented as “Weekend series” for baseball, and 3 or 4 night stays for football games makes the most sense.

Outside of that, they could be rented for student visits, or provided as housing for important guest speakers etc.

If I’m going to dream, I may as well dream big.

Revisionist history

When the Box opened in 2009 it was praised all over the country as the best place in college baseball to catch a game.

What's happened is since 2009, a number of our conference friends have opened new parks and/or dramatically renovated their current ones, and ALL of them have these nice new features that completely blows the Box out the water.

it's crazy that what was state of the art in 2009 is just about obsolete in 2022. But that's due to other schools starting later on their projects.

No stadium construction is going to fix those issues.

South Carolina and arky both came online around the new box and completely blow it out.

We need upgrades but we shall see if one of us can get it done

When did they start planning?

IIRC, New Box was supposed to open a couple of years earlier but Katrina delayed stuff.

In any event, other schools set out to dramatically invest in baseball, and LSU went from being the school to invest the most, to middle of the pack.

We def need upgrades but not sure how much we can do with current layout.

We could have adjusted plans for it but skip went cheap trying to make it like the old box.

I’ll be at all 3 games this weekend. The new Dudy Noble is absolutely amazing. You can walk around the whole stadium on one level. Tons of students were there.

Not saying it isn’t awesome but being arse at literally every other sport helps bring students in for baseball

All the food I need. Don’t they have people grilling out behind the outfield? That’s where I’d be to eat.

Tuesday night game with the kids, scarce crowd, usher wouldn't let my kid stand at the fence in the left field bleachers. I was standing right there. He wasn't blocking anyone's view, I understand if his fingers are in the fence and a ball is at the exact location of his finger he would be hurt.

Skip definitely went cheap with the bleachers along both sidelines & outfields. He openly, and often bragged about the stadium being his creation after "touring the country for ideas". I may be mistaken on this & plead mea culpa if so, but didn't he take the bleachers from the Old Box as a cost saving measure? I'd be curious as to the comparisons in revenue with re to Moo State, the Hawgs & even the Black Bears new stadiums. The aggies have a new stadium as well but if not mistaken, it seats a lot less than the other new stadiums & The Box. Which arena should / needs to get renovated first, the Box or the PMAC???

This will never happen but if I won a 200 million dollar lottery, I would donate 30 million to LSU baseball and ask them to make this Box better.

I'm not one to make excuses for Skip, but the original plans for the new Box had many of the amenities that everyone brings up. The US economy went through the worst recession, from 2007-2009, since WW2. Most of LSU's TAF donors were not in a position to make additional donations during those uncertain times.

$2000-$5000 a year but when the stadium was built in 2019 they let the people who had spots have first come first serve. There are 84 "rigs" and they are customized how ever you want with each having a grill. If one ever comes open it goes to the highest bidder which I've heard $250,000. The 12 lofts in left field are rented each weekend for $3000 and you can also use them throughout the year. They also have a bar on top of the lofts. They are building 12 more lofts within the next few years. Incredible stadium!
