The fact that giving up nearly 500 yards and 35 points represents substantial improvement underscores how awful this unit is. Still, they showed a lot of effort compared to previous games and actually made some plays including turnovers. BK needs to get a lot of defensive studs and soon.

DLine made some plays and looked chippy and inspired at times. That’s progress.

Overall still bad defense though so sort of splitting hairs.

I noticed earlier in the game when the edge would go inside the DT wouldn't fill towards the outside to re-set the edge. That killed us. Then later on i noticed they started doing that and we started to stop Florida getting to the edge after that.

This happened after the last really shitty performance. They focused in the very next game and played better.

This is solid proof that the defense will not improve permanently under the current defensive leadership.

Line got some more pressure which was nice but linebackers and DB’s can’t tackle. LB play is nonexistent.

Don’t forget 14 of Fla’s points came off of Jackson’s muffed KO return and the drive where the refs gifted the Gators 30 yards on 2 penalties. Defense still terrible, but looked better last night.

0 actually was active at times, but he still lacks any explosion. I think he is not completely healthy. Did 40 even play?

They made the goal line stand at the end of the game.

That really impressed me.

That was total garbage time and they nutted up and stopped Florida.

Yes. There is that as well. Got to get a MUCH better staff for the D and better players.

Tackling is still pathetic.

The only good thing is that a number of FR that we will count on next season got meaningful playing time.

I really like Toviano. The last 2 games he showed he can be great with a better scheme and coaching.

I’m proud of the way they fought, and they showed some fire. Guys made plays where they could. Good for them. They deserved to have a win.

Playing against a crappy offense makes a defense look better.

That was the best stand they have made all season. And it preserved winning against the spread to boot...

Doesn’t Florida have a really bad offensive line?

They improved from an F to a D minus.
I mean; Progress is good. Let’s hope it continues. A “C” defense and we would still be talking about the playoffs.
