The snottiness of SEC fans towards any other conference, especially the Big 10, is well documented.

here are the issues with your line of thinking:

1. To answer your first question, I'd have to ask you why you're saying that. Is it because Etling isn't good enough, or is it because he's in a LSU-Miles Offense?

2. That said, I think it's the former because of you next statement. So, my answer to you is that you are wrong. Not because I think you're wrong per say but because he's previous stats at Purdue prove you're wrong.

3. You say BH is WAY more gifted; I won't disagree with that. But, that raises the question: how much mental capacity does it take to play QB in CFB? And, how much of it plays into success rates? My answer would be a lot. A hell of a lot.

I think BH is a smart young man. I just think that he doesn't trust himself or his instincts. That's probably mostly Miles' fault, but it doesn't change the fact that he can't put it together in live action. Etling may be plan B in your mind, but to most others, he's already the obvious choice to play QB at LSU.

But, at LSU, that feeling could change in a heartbeat.

The thing is in the Les/Cam offense it takes a QB that can see the whole field and read and react to what the defense is doing. It requires an accurate thrower of the football. Brandon is not that QB he is not dumb period, but he is a gifted athlete playing QB. The only conundrum in my mind is will Les stay the hell out of the play calling so that Cam gets his guy going? This offense requires a QB like Etling or Mett period. How the hell Cam or Les can't see it is beyond me. I guess they thought they could mold Bandon into that QB. It's kind of arrogant when you think about it. He just doesn't have good mechanics.

I know. When they were recruiting Harris you could see in high school that he wasn't an accurate passer but maybe he was the in-state guy we couldn't miss on in their minds. Honestly I think we have just had some bad luck coupled with bad recruiting QB wise. It has hurt for sure. I wonder though that if Etling runs this offense proficiently would that change people's minds about this offense and the outlook on Miles

It won't in my mind. The second half of last week proves Les will not open it up. LSU could have scored 50 on JSU but he went back to two wideouts. Decent teams will cover two receivers all day long. That has killed our passing game more than missing on QBs in my opinion. They have never adjusted to who they have brought in.

I have seen many posters indicating that "he couldn't make it at shitty Purdue, why would he make it here type shite.

That's just ignorant thinking. I just hope the offensive line can give him some time to work with.

We all do we've suffered long enough that's for sure. The line concerns me as much or more actually. JSU was able to get pressure, and I'm pretty sure MSUs' line is better.

Every Purdue fan I've talked to has said he could have been a solid QB but their offense was terrible. No weapons. No line. No chance to succeed. His one negative was inability to get rid of the ball but what freshman succeeds in that when under constant pressure.

I don't think people ripped on him because he came from Purdue.

They ripped on him because his stats were awful at Purdue and he was benched for younger, less experienced QB.

I am all aboard the Etling train after watching Harris regress, however. We have no other option but to give him the offense and see what happens. He looks a lot more poised in the pocket in limited action, that's for sure. Maybe his experience at Purdue running for his life will help him this year with our horrible OL play.

Purdue gave up 38 sacks that season and had less than no running game. Most of the time he was running for his life almost at the moment of the snap.

Certainly helps to explain why he appears to have such good pocket presence.

No the Les/Cam offense takes a defense that is undersized, otherwise they stack the box against the run and we lose

I'll take it if it gets men out of the box which opens up the running game. Sure beats the other team loading the box and forcing BH to "throw" the ball away from the receivers. Now if we can just get the offensive line and receivers in line, we will be fine.
