In their minds I'm sure it's an unnecessary distraction at a very important time of year. NFL franchises don't care for this kind of BS.

Yes.
Lifelong skins fan here (and lsu alum), I have lots of their reporters/fans in my orbit, nobody thinks this is a good look (although they are slightly more sympathetic).
The common thread pretty much all boil down to “dude, focus on the nfc east and nothing else!” Or something along those lines.
