The center position seems to be the weak link in our O-Line since Lloyd Cushenberry left

Liam Shanahan, Charles Turner, and DJ Chester.

I appreciate the effort from these Tigers, but they have been the weak link and have allowed defenses to get a lot of inside pressure on our quarterbacks. I’m kind of hoping that Kelly is willing to give all our lineman on the roster a chance to see what they can do in practice at the center position. Maybe one of next year’s recruits could pick it up if no one on the current roster can.

Lloyd Cushenberry had us pretty spoiled in 2018 and 2019. He kept a clean pocket for Joe Burrow for the most part by eliminating inside pressure. He also was pretty good in the run game.

It could change our season a lot if the center position could improve moving forward somehow.

The emergence of Durham could change that.

Chester is better than both those guys right now and has 2.5 years to go.

DJ Chester will be good in time. He just needs experience.

I mean I agree that Durham will be a great rb, but that doesn’t have anything to do with this. He’ll have to make something out of nothing if the O-Line can’t improve. He’ll be way more productive if our center is no longer a pushover.

I still have faith in DJ. He’s been thrown into the fire. He will continue to get better

DJ was better than Turner last year, but needs to improve. Haven't seen much, if any, this year so far. But hope he gets going soon.

Our line looks soft and has definitely been struggling. With that said, better playcalling would help out with this problem immensely.

So far he’s the only RB that has been a real threat to run the ball. He broke tackles and made defenders miss. He didn’t need to have the red sea parted before he got positive yards. The OL has to do their job, but the ball carrier has to be able to make guys miss. Having a RB who can bounce off defenders will help the OL look better. And keep defense from being able to just sell out and call inside blitzes with no repercussions.

I agree. However, it’s still not really relevant to this topic.

Durham and also all of our other running backs will perform much better if our interior line play is better; Specifically the center position that has been such a weak link for 5 years now.

No running back can be great without any help from his line.

Dont know what this is based off of but he's had a pretty objectively terrible start to the season. Now the dude is a RS freshman so I kind of doubted not having some major bumps in the road to start, but it just seems absolutely silly to say something like the above.

But 4 penalties in 3 games and got absolutely owned in the USCaroilina game just recently. He's been the lowest graded OLinemen by far, and thats saying something because the OLine hasnt been near the strength we thought it would be.
