re: The 'biggest' recruit LSU lost out on that could have changed our program?

This is a pointless thread as LSU has a different face now. No way we miss out on all these top notch recruits today

I should have been more specific, this was in response to certain coaches here running them off.
I agree with you there. Mannings are typical Nola Newman kids who think its prestigious to go to tricking mississippi. And I'm from Nola myself.

Easy $,
You are right on RG3, and he would have made us so good now that LM likes to mix the run and pass (well I wish he would pass vertical more
)
Tyler Wilson was a done deal with LSU if we offer him (Did we offer and then pull the offer-I forgot?). We chose not to and go another route. I wanted this kid however the coaches saw differently

the turning point for our program was when saban started to dominate the in state recruiting scene in louisiana.
some would argue that kevin faulk was the turning point, but we were not very good even with faulk and we became a worse team at the end of his career.
the marquee moment was landing clayton and spears as a dual package.

our qb recruitment has been a shite show for a few years now. ever since jimbo left it seems.
mett seems to be the exception. hopefully that is the case.

Dind Ding for what was the key time in recruiting for the current LSU force in college football. However, the thread is who could have changed our program that we missed... You and I and others agree that RG3 or Wilson would have brought us a NC last season... I still think what we had was OK but a Stupid Gameplan did us in and a terrible QB in JJ. Lets not go there...
The Mannings would have changed our program because their name, how good they were, and other great players who would have come to LSU to play with them. However, our AD and higher's were cheap and did not realize what LSU football could be on a National level like Emmert and Saban.

______________
Matt Forte'
______________
This guy may have made a difference. However, he hates LSU with a passion. During LSU-BAMA game. I heard him on NFL Live or Gameday say that he did not like LSU and would NEVER pull for LSU.
What gives?

Name which hasn't been mentioned: Johnny Hector RB. Mac lost the New Iberia RB to Texas A&M in 1978.
I remember this one well. One of Hector's relatives was in prison and some dipshit called the family and said he would never get out of jail if Johnny Hector didn't sign with LSU.

You have to admit, signing him changed our program. If we had Thomas or RG3, instead of that facsimile of a QB we might have won another couple of crystal balls, for sure we'd have one from last January 9.

So why did archie go to ole miss? Because that is the right answer as we likely get peyton and /or eli
Because he was foolish. He wasn't about to let his kids go to LSU just so a bunch of pubescent Tiger fans could fap while he played in a high school level offense, his abilities stagnated, he failed to rise to a top draft pick, and he signed for $20 MM less.
BTW, same thing happened in the NFL. Learning from his own misfortune, Archie did not let his son sign with the team that drafted him. Instead he got him with a well managed franchise.
Sounds like a great dad.

To me it would have to a qb.
If Terry Bradshaw or Bobby Hebert had actually qualified to play at LSU...

Nah, not Forte. By this time LSU was already great and RB talent hasn't been a problem in 20 years. Or maybe ever.

Warren Dunn! our program would have been a lot better if We had an AD! Joe Dean sucked!!!
