Kordell Stuart was a rich man's JJ. He went to Colordao at their height so he must have been highly coveted.

The obvious answer is Rick Clausen. Single-handedly cost us the Hurricane Rita game, and possibly a 3rd BCS title that season.

Peyton Manning, he wanted to come to LSU

Are you on crack?
No chance ever. Peyton never ever gave LSU a sniff other than a politically correct mention as sort of maybe being in the running.

Archie's hate for LSU runs deeper than you could ever possibly imagine.

Warrick Dunn. At that time at least

I thought Warrick wasn't even the star of his high school team.

Wasn't it Kevin Franklin? He was the must have recruit from Catholic High. And LSU signed him. He just turned out to be a huge bust

And Marshall Faulk was recruited as a DB, by not just LSU, but every other college except one. And that was San Diego State. The only reason he ended up there was because they were the only school that offered him as a RB. If not for San Diego State, Faulk would have played DB, and probably would have been a damn good one too.

So I dont think there was this huge disappointment after not getting Faulk.

Fans were excited to get Franklin and had this site existed back during Faulk's recruitment, I'm sure everyone would have been laughing at him for his decision to play RB at San Diego State and not DB at schools like LSU, Miami, or Nebraska

LSU wasn't winning a NC in 2005 no matter what happens against Tenn.

Archie Manning cost LSU an unbeaten season and a chance to play Texas for the national championship in 1969. His scrambling and passing beat a great LSU defense, 26-23. Mac chose to go for a 4th down late in the game rather than kick a tying field goal. The result was that instead of finishing 10-0 and a Cotton Bowl bid ... the Tigers finished 9-1, and no bowl game. Notre Dame ended up in the Cotton Bowl, and LSU later turned down an offer to play in the Bluebonnet Bowl against U of Houston.

Gotta be Peyton Manning. Not sure if Dunn or Marshall Faulk make as much impact.

forget the Mannings. It does not matter who the LSU coach was, they were never coming here.

This thread is about "what if". We all know a Manning would never play for his own state school.

I should have been more specific, this was in response to certain coaches here running them off.

I would like to start from way back to current but on my list, I will start with co-players who could have won us a Championship with last year's team. My list:

1. Tyler Wilson & RG3- Good QB in 2011 = Nat. Title- this first listing is for crystal hardware baby!!
2. Peyton Manning then Eli- Say what you want but those 2 make us SO much better in those times, we prolly win a NC or 2
3. Ed Reed- A no brainer-how good was he
4. Marshall Faulk- Wow what a talent
5. Warrick Dunn- We needed that kind of talent (from BR )
6. Barry Sanders- Best RB ever!!!!

we almost had rg III....was going to run track as well. he was way under the radar. went to a place where he could start as a fr.

it worked out for him, but we would have clearly been the best team of all time last season with him.
