re: The bigger injustice is the scheduling

we’re bitching and crying because we have to play a team that finished above .500 in SEC play 3 times since Tebow graduated.
For anything to change, evidence has to be presented as to why change is good for all interested parties.
It can't just be "well we're getting screwed by playing a tougher schedule this year." Compelling evidence has to be presented as to why those other schools would benefit.
Maybe let's focus on that too, instead of presenting the million ways we're getting screwed. The reality is no one else in the SEC thinks its a big deal. Play who's in front of you.

If Bama is so set on having permanent cross division games, then fine. Let's trade Florida for Vandy on our schedule every year and Florida can play Ole Miss every year.
Let's see how Bama likes that.

but I think college is a different game since you have new players every year and not trying to keep parity like the NFL

Its too easy just to rotate all cross division foes.
Agreed.

If those 4 teams (bama, UT, UGA, Au) want to keep their rivalry games, they can do it as an out of conference matchup
I thought of this and couldn't figure out how to quickly and equitably transition to that from a scheduling point of view. Since people have P5 OOC schedules that are 5-6 out into the future. Once it was up and running, this would work swimmingly, though,

Tennessee was better than Florida for a long time, so I don't agree with your argument on that point
UTenn and UF began playing annually in '90. The SECCG was inaugurated in '92. Since '90, they have played 29 games.
UF leads 22-7 in that time frame.

We get Vanderbilt next year. The schedule next year is incredibly favorable

Whats so hard about rotating the cross division to do away with the built in advantages?
So the concept is fine, but it does result in a tilted schedule for some teams, although it's cyclical.
All that being said, I'm for expanding the SEC schedule to 9 games and rotating all cross-divisional games.

This is largely accurate. I think every other potentially affected rivalry was sacrificed for those two.
Auburn was the big loser. They lost rivalry games with UTenn and UF.

Auburn did have Florida as a permanent opponent back in the 90's when there were 2 permanents and 1 rotational.

This biggest joke about the scheduling was the “bridge” schedules after expansion. We had to play Georgia and South Carolina twice since then while Bama got Mizzou and Kentucky
Now that it’s back on a rotation I don’t really care since it is what it is
Hey Eighteen! Yes, I remember "the bridge" year. Alabama was scheduled to play Georgia that year but it was decided by "the gods" that they welcome Missouri to the SEC. Bama beat the hell out of Missouri and Georgia had a pretty good team that year.

Yep. It turned out to be a really good SECCG.

I have a link on my post in the As The Tide Rolls Thread that is to the Bridge Schedule Conspiracy Thread with that part of it broken down.

This is how Alabama is able to sneak into the playoffs through the back door with a loss, easier than any other team
No. It’s bc they have consistently been one of the best teams every year.
Same reason they have beaten us 6 times in a row. They are better

Sure, if the SEC artificially made Tennessee suck for a decade.
There is no Bama bias. Scheduling has never once given them an SEC title or national title, nor has it cost LSU one, and it’s crazy to think otherwise.

It’s sad to see LSU fans melt like this.

Gotcha. So the solution is for LSU to kick everyone’s arse and then it’s not a problem anymore. We’ll get right on that. But in the mean time, it would be nice to not have an extra hurdle to make the seccg or playoff.
Posted on 10/25/18 at 2:53 pm to xiv
So the Georgia game didn’t matter? What about Florida? Is that one going to matter? Would it matter if bama had to play 2 top 10 cross division teams once in a while instead of just LSu having to run that gauntlet 6 times ? I think it would be worth finding out.
Look no further than this year to see the discrepancy. We lose to bama and we’re an also ran. If they lose to us, they get a bye week and invitation to the playoffs. And it’s because of the difference in cross division games! I can’t make this any more simple.
Florida, Georgia >>mizzou, Tennessee

It's called money. Don't kid yourself. LSU is complicit. Maybe not the fans, but those whose livelihood is dependent on the conference's earnings are all to blame for inequalities on the playing field.
Mother fricking THIS. As long as those hundreds of millions of dollars in TV revenue keep pouring in, nothing will change. Minor tweaks maybe, but no big changes.
