I rarely start threads, but this will be my second today and second in a week or two so I decided that's not too much.

I just felt extremely sad hearing what's going on with him, I never spoke to him in a thread ,back and forth, I don't think. What got me the most was , thnking back to him passionately debating over Lsu football, knowing good and well he had little, if any chance of seeing them this upcoming season.

I just wanted to make a statement and nobody has to listen or follow this up with anything.

his situation opened my eyes and hopefully yours ,to how much we take for granted, health being number one.it opened my eyes to how short life is.

I just thought maybe we, as a group could make a conscious effort to treat each other with a little more respect and love. If we don't like each other then maybe it's best, for the whole world not to know about it.
The main thing is, the kys statement, I mean it's used so much that it's got it's own abbreviation. I don't understand why thats acceptable here, but I've never heard someone say this to another in person and even on other message boards its rare.

In conclusion, I thought maybe in Ben's honor we could just be a little more respectful, patient, and maybe even get rid of the kys slogan forever.

Solid thread, and noble idea

But we will be back at each other’s necks in the next thread about the offense and/or coach O

It is what it is

Noble idea, but if anyone tries to "enforce" this, it just comes across as the board police then that person ends up looking as bad or worse than the other stuff usually.

It's a ridiculous concept to tell that to someone on a message board, much less one about sports. IMO there's way too much nastiness and vulgarity in these disagreements. It's not hard to disagree with someone without being that over the top with it.

sadly, it is a reflection of our times. little civility and what there is gets trampled on. we have become a less civilized nation that many applaud.

It’s a great idea but I’ve that unfortunately will never work here. There are way too many immature posters on TD who downvote anything and everything and find it cool to be negative all the time.

One thing this site has thought me is that most posters are here for one thing and that is LSU. We are allowed to express our views and our opinions but some on here take it too far. I rarely get into it with posters on here and when I do get too riled up I just log off. I have seen several posters on here pass away over the years and it is just a gut check to real life. Remember folks it's just a Internet message board and most on here root for one thing, LSU. Prayers to Ben Coleman and his family.

Absolutely real.
I Just talked to his ex wife(That's how he realized he knew me IRL about 5 yrs ago) 2 minutes ago.
She sent out a prayer request for their kids on Facebook. She told me it's his final moments and welcome any prayers. Say a prayer for Ole Crazy Ben and his kids and family if you're the religious type.
