The anthem nonsense doesn't just pertain to LSU.

Because the NCAA, unlike pro sports, doesn't require teams to be present during the anthem, many schools in many sports aren't.

LINK .

According to the above article, as of 2017 at least, NO SEC football team is on the field for it. And here is the LSU / Clemson NC from January 2020. Neither team's players are on the field.

No they are not required to. But it shows class to be out there on the court like Iowa IMO.

It varies by sport. In football the band plays the anthem and the teams are still in the locker room. In basketball and baseball the teams are on the court/field.

The media is just trying to find anything they can to throw at our team and I’m sick of it! And the idiots who buy into this need to get the facts straight before they start mouthing off.

Thats not the point. LSU is being condemned for protesting. Unless we think something so widespread is actually widespread protest, then protest has nothing to do with what they did.

Many people don't know about the many distinctions between pro and college athletics. This is one of them.

It varies by coach and university. Notre Dame football stays on the field for example.

LSU is not the only basketball team to go back to the locker room after warm ups.

Don't be mad that the team you root for is a bunch of national anthem haters...listen, LSU had a CHOICE to be out there and they chose NOT be out there. PERIOD!!!

IMO get out there for the anthem. It's not a football game, so that is a BS excuse.

We should stop playing the National Anthem before any and all sporting events. We only started doing it during WWII when people were playing while people were dying, which amounted to the original virtue signaling. Now we continue to virtue signal and most don't even know why.

True. It’s meaningless now and nobody really knows etiquette anyway. They make it up as they go along…Hats off, hand over heart, salute, stand….its all a bunch of know-nothings who have no “respect” but think standing for a song cancels all their other bs.

Mulkey was a little disingenuous to suggest she wasn't even aware the anthem was playing and it's all part of their routine. That may be true but the routine was developed to avoid the possibility of the visual of some players choosing to kneel. In other words, it's a routine rooted in avoiding potential controversy that could occur during the playing of the national anthem.

I think a ballgame is one of the most poignant places where the national anthem can be played. You may be Roll Tide and I may be a Tiger. We may hate each other when it comes to the action between the lines. But at the end of the day we are all united in that we are all Americans. The national anthem being sung by both sides is a symbol of that.

This is a horrible argument. We live in the greatest country on the globe and little girls are watching their role models. You change whatever pregame routine you have and you get your arse on the court, hand over heart, looking at the flag for the national anthem.
