You're right....Lowery instigating stuff doesn't give anyone the right to kick him while he was down.
That said, it does definitely change the PR and perception of this fight if it is indeed true that Lowery was in fact the instigator and "starter" of this brawl from the get-go. If the players were protecting this girl and/or protecting their teammates from Lowery then - whether right or wrong - it does make them look less "criminal" IMO.

Me and some buddies were on the beach going meet some girls from earlier in the day; on the way someone girls from up in the hotel start talking to us, we hear guys up there telling them what to say, they come down to the beach to confront us... huge guy lays me out, other guy throws full beer at my friends head, i get kicked by girl and guy while down

why is it assumed that Lowery's ex was with any football players? there's no indication of that.
if anything, she looks like a drama queen for standing by his side/taking up for him during that fight.
if she was scared of him, why didn't she leave or call the cops when he showed up?
