That was true vintage Lane Kiffin offense. Same formation we had been using, great job by jones and sam to not make it obvious they had slightly shifted, which is pretty remarkable considering Sam’s leg at that point. The execution by Jackson to not coming just flying out and Sam putting it perfect.
Plus seeing Lane know it’s a TD immediately

Lane saw he got the defensive formation he wanted and got excited immediately. He started running at the snap and pointed when he saw Harris caught it, then did the fist punch. It was great! I love seeing a coach get excited like that. Reminds me of the early Sean Payton years. He would get excited as well.

The only part that wasn’t vintage Kiffin was dropping the play sheet instead of tossing it 20 yards in the air.

I like to see coaches get excited when things good happen! Coach O was the best at that and I like it! It’s ok for a coach to actually enjoy the game! It was a great call at the perfect time and it worked!! They should be excited about that!

I loved how we showed the exact same look as we did on 3rd & 1 when we went direct snap to Dilin Jones, gave a hard count, motioned everyone to the left, and then ran that play. Doing all of that had A&M thinking that we probably weren't snapping the ball, so their jump off the snap was slow, making the entire front 7 go into a bit of a panic pressing forward to meet Dilin Jones at the line of scrimmage, and it was barbecue chicken from there. Brilliant.

This was the first game where I saw the Lane Kiffin offense that I was hoping for: unpredictable, Lots of pre-snap motion, good WR tree routes, trick plays etc..

I wouldn't be surprised at all that we also run that play where we make the shift and then just hand it off, so if opposing teams think "watch for a shift" is a tell and change to pass defense we can still just slam it in there or even run it to the edge. Lane and Charlie play the long game.
